A couple of things I learned:
If you leave the key inside and you lock with comfort access there's a sound notification. (Sounds like alarm system for 1 full sec). My installer didn't put the antenna behind the tail light outside the cabin , he put it inside the cabin behind the tail light. I was okay with it but it actually makes me have to stay a little closer to the passenger tail light to open the trunk. If I try to open the trunk with my right hand (key closer to driver side tail light) it doesn't work. If I open with my left hand and I'm closer to the antenna it works. I guess I don't mind it but I'm sure if mounted outside this will work better. Just FYI for people that are going to be installing their kits in future.

Lol, Yes but his reasoning was that they didn't want it exposed to the elements? (moisture etc). Does yours work regardless of where you are behind the trunk?

Got my comfort access installed this weekend and I love it... but there's things that are different now: (no coding done)
1. The side mirrors fold automatically when lock and unfolds during an unlock. 2. The angel DRL stay on for a few seconds after locking doors with comfort access. (Locking with key fob turns off the angel DRL) 3. Unlocking with comfort access turns on Angel DRL but not rear lights and door handle lights. (Key fob unlock turns on all lights) #1-2 are actually pretty cool new features but I would like #3 to be like the key fob Any idea how to solve this |

Hello!
I just retrofitted a comfort access, however its not bought from bimmertech .. I wanted to share an info regarding battery discharge problem, as some ppl were inquiring about it here and i faced this issue directly. this the biggest topic on the comfort access on fourms, and it might help future readers. After searching, the following points is my conclusion: 1- Communication between key fob and some parts of the ECU 'not the whole ECU' is working all the time 2- ECU wakes up when key fob is in range As if you waited close outside the car holding the key fob after locking ur car, it wont go for the sleep mode even after 10 min+ 3- Of course the control unit of the comofrt access consume additional power - normal consumption the wont damage ur car in anyway- so that to satisfy the point some of u might say -I didnt face it before retrofitting the kit and i always leave the fob at the garage or near it- 4- this problems occured in original comfort access equipped from factory, percisely on F3x Moreover, i found that its a historical issue as E60 had been encountered it too ' as stated in some other fourms' Therefore if u ever faced the issue or never faced it yet 1- Leave the key fob away from ur car 2- If u encountered such issue get over it, drive couple of minutes and it will disappear " and make sure again not to leave the key fob near ur car' One last thing, enjoy ur comfort access, it really worth the effort, a keyless entry is a great feature the BMW AG just took out from our cars. Have a nice ride all of youu |
