Has BMW UK gone mad...

...or are they trying to send some message?

Just been to the UK configurator and pound for pound a similarly specced 520d costs no more than the new 320d!!!!

Spec both up with leather, xenons, basic satnav, sports seats and variable damping, and both come up around the 38k mark!!!!!

So is the new 3 overpriced, or is BMW simply marketing it as a smaller but equally premium alternative to the 5???

I'm glad someone else has noticed this; I thought it was just me! I was playing around with the configurator and found that just adding a few basic options put the cost close to the £35k mark for me. When I purchased my current E90 I know I paid under less than £30k. All I was trying to do was to spec an F30 to a similar level as the current car.

I noticed that as well. Keeping my fingers crossed for more reasonable pricing in the US!

To be fair the 3 series was the same when comparing an E90 320d with an F10 520d, add the same options that are standard on the F10 and there was only around a grand in it.

Got to ignore UK, Euro and Asian pricing because they're based on a criteria that does not apply to way BMW markets cars in the USA.

May well be saving it for the M-Sport package.

328i will be available for SE, Modern and Luxury.
