Back road outside my local dealership. There are a few dealers over there, i think they pay off the cop to not patrol that road. I always do my 0-100kph run there!

here is a great drive if you ever come my way!

Cheers,

Thanks. Australia is on my bucket list. I'll keep this road in mind when I get in your neck of the woods.

I just spent a week in San Francisco. I lived there before household computers were even considered.
Rented a Mustang, and drove down to Monterey and spent 3 nights there. Great part of the world. If I lived in the US, that is where I would pick to put down roots.

Cheers,

Ken

PCH/101 from Oxnard all the way up to Monterey is beautiful, go northbound, southbound has a fair share of cars fall off the cliff...

PCH out of San Luis Obispo up to Monterey is one of the most scenic drives in the country.

154 Chumash Hwy from Santa Barbara hooks back up with 101N.

Malibu Canyon has bunch of nice drives through the mountains, and Mullholland is always fun.

Route 132 east of Montmagny in Québec. Beautiful areas all the way along the St. Lawrence River/Estuary and around the Gaspé. Also, take it inland from Mont-Joli to Cambellton, New Brunswick and enjoy the Matapedia River Valley run.

Then on to the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia and across to Newfoundland...up the east coast to Gros Morne National Park and on to L'Anse aux Meadows at the northern most tip of Newfoundland: National Historic site at a Viking settlement.

I know...more a tour than a road, but beautiful and great fun to drive all the way!

+ 1. I used to hit triple digit speeds on my E90 when driving through that. There are a couple of sections that usually have troopers though (right near the airport)

They also drive 3-4 hours to get to the Hocking Hills area of SE Ohio but I have not had the pleasure. More local to Metro Detroit, if traffic allows there are nice roads in Commerce Township around the lakes (Cooley Lake Rd, Benstein, etc.).
The roads in SE Michigan are the worst roads I've ever driven on. Even in the nice areas in Commerce township, Bloomfield hills, it's like a third-world country. Can't drive in any reasonable manner because if you care about your car, you're going to be ducking cracks/potholes the entire time.

The car is half the story. The road is the other half. What roads to you all like to drive based on fun to drive, scenery, and whatever other attributes make a particular road your favorite.

It would be great to get responses from the various regions/states/areas of the countries represented on this forum. Feel free to pick more than one. Maybe one from your own area and another that you experienced while you were traveling away from home.

I'll start.

I like California Hwy 120 in Yosemite through Tuolumne Meadows and down Tioga Pass to Lee Vining. Also, Hwy 1 between Morro Bay and Carmel.

Florida Hwy 1 in the Florida Keys.
Didn't you originally have highway 35..somewhere past woodside as a top road? Saw you edited that out. I was going to look that up. I enjoy driving from Canada road to Woodside and then past into the mountains..not sure if that is where you are talking about.

Driven them all. Great roads. You are totally right about going North instead of South. If you want a great drive with cliffs, try Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd. from Mission Antonio de Padua to Hwy 1. I loved it. My wife hated it. Great road.

Near Malibu

Latigo Canyon Rd, Malibu. From the coast to Mulholland. Usually take the P-Car. Talk about the most amount of fun on four wheels.

I've never been to New Hampshire. I checked out Kancamagus highway on Google map street view. Beautiful. It must be really special with the leaves changing color.

US-15 between Corning, NY and Williamsport, PA. Really nice mountain road, great views, and very little traffic.

PS - It'll be renumbered to I-99 someday.

This thread just reminded me that I needed to ID a road I was on. Nav took me on this path from Long Island to a mountain in Massachusetts. I've been there numerous times, this time however it took me off the highways for basically the whole 2nd half of the trip. At first I was wondering what the hell it had me doing but pretty soon I was very glad to be there. Winding and hilly, near empty, road that went miles and miles, all along the way next to a beautiful river. Tucked in between hills and little mountains, overhanging trees, passing lakes on either side, a few small cool looking towns. With some perfect music going it was an absolutely amazing ride. The nav took me a different way on the way home. I just tried to find it on Google but I cant be sure. I might have to queue it up in the car again and hope it chooses the same route.

The whole North East New England landscape, everywhere from lower New York state North is incredible. But this was a stand out ride.

Recently drove Glendora Mountain Road, and it was pretty fun! I also enjoy Mulholland because it's close to work, but it's more of a nice drive than an all out sprint like the GMR.

One of the best curvy roads for fast driving, and it was mostly repaved 2 years ago, is the Duffy Lake road in BC. It starts/ends just north of Pemberton [which is reached by another pretty good road, the Sea to Sky from Vancouver to Whistler] and goes to Lillouet. Very few use this road so good speeds can be used. However, if you miscalculate braking or cornering speed, the damage to your car can be significant- and I am not sure if a mobile phone is usable out there. And yes, there are a lot of dirt roads that feed off of it
