San Marino Blue Colour

Hey guys ,

New here. I've just received my brand new 330e last week but unfortunately in Malaysia we dont receive that many colours. 5 or less i think. Anyways i am planning to wrap/paint my car. Which one is better wrap or paint in terms of quality ? Also the colour that i want is San Marino Blue Metallic. Would i have to provide anything to the wrap/paint shop ?
First time i saw that colour was last two months on a M4CS. Brilliant colour.

Sorry if i'm posting in the wrong place am still abit confused on the forum laws.

I would highly recommend you to wrap the car, painting is always the more expensive and also irreversible part. Plus you're be able to change the color of the wrap at anytime if you get rid of it.

I see. Well i'm not planning on replacing this car anytime soon and also apparently theres this wrap coat called autoflex and its pretty expensive that would give a similar visual representation compared to paint so yea. Anyways do you know what i should do in terms of preparing ? Like i asked the guy in the shop well i called him and i dont think he knows the colour but he needs to check it first. I sent him pictures and the name of the colour obviously shortly after. I thought it would be as simple as just getting a can or a gallon of san marino blue paint and spray .

Hard to say, I know a very good wrap mfr into China, but until now I hadnt ordered coloured wrap so far, but carbonlook.
Basic colors are layed down into the RAL table, all other shaded or mixed colors are grouped around the basic tone. So maybe if you tell him, the San Marino blue is around RALxxxx, he would better recognize the direction you want to walk.
But if he hasnt any clues how to get knowledge to recognize a desired color of a customer...is that the right shop?
As you may know, the maximum duration of a wrapped car is about 5 years, after that the wrap has to come off, the paint must be deep cleaned and after that its possible to wrap again. Depends onto how long you would have your car, but even its a very long term, you couldnt ignore that.

So i called up this other shop. Its one of if not the biggest cosmetic and service auto store in my country. They told me to replicate that colour would be a bit difficult for wrapping as they could do it but it wont be as accurate but pretty close. ( Raspberry Blue is what theyre talking about. 3M 1080 Wrap ) If you look on bimmerpost i think an M3 got featured by using AutoFlex with Raspberry Blue and first look yea it's pretty similar but once you really put it side by side theres a slight difference. They also mentioned paint which they said would be very accurate and is something they would recommend over wrap for this particular color. Both prices are the same at 4000-5000. Time for wrap is 4 days and 2 weeks for the paint. What do you think ?

Hmm, an expert shop for wrapping in Germany also asks for up to 3500,- Euros, thats same level than your quote in $.
Anyway, painting would be no match for me. Consider also the advantage of wrapping, your original paint and car surface is well protected underneath the wrap and would look brand new after dewrapping. Would be my first option.

Ah it's not in $ my apologies. It's in my currency which is MYR. So 4000 is equivalent to 827 euros. I'll consider both thanks a lot for the replies i appreciate it.
