Usb map update

Hi folks
My car is now over 3 years old. I got an email from bmw connected service dating that my usb map update has now expired and its going to cost £69 for the next 24 months.

What do people think? Is it worth it?

Obviously depends on how much you use it.

Roads can change due to new developments or changes to access for pedestrians etc.

What current version do you have installed ?

It's easy enough to do yourself at no cost if you have an esys setup on a laptop

Plenty on here if you search

I have a esys cable but not the system. I haven't got around to getting the software. I was under the impression that the free version was no longer availble.
Is it quite easy to update maps? I don't want to be messing around with FSC codes etc.

I got the same email last week, but it’s £124 for 2 years. Seems pretty steep to me.

Once you've used esys to extract the FSC code its just a case of downloading the map and generating a key. I think I've done it 4 times for my car now

That's strange. I better check the price again. 70 quid for 2 years isn't too bad.

The map data is available from places like this

https://gpsunderground.com/forum/for...premium-2018-2

This is for an older car like mine with CIC, make sure you get the right map download.

Just Google, and make sure you know how to use a torrent file and it's all straightforward once set up

I paid the £70 for the 330d as i thought it worth it.
2 updates a year, easily downloaded onto a 64 Mb stick. Boom job done

2 years for £70 is not bad... It used to be £120ish PER MAP back in 2013/14 when I got my car - linked to this, RTTI might need renewing @£40ish per year...

You will need a 64 gb usb stick and it will take about 1-2 hours to download, well that's how long mine took..

For the last couple of Black Friday sales they have reduced the 2 year update price by 20% from £70 to £56 in case you're not too bothered about waiting 2-3 months.

There's websites out there that will give you the maps download for you model and an FSC code for less than have the price which BMW are offering. I however did it for free on my own using E-SYS
