I knew it was a re-brand, didn't really check it out to see if it was Allianz, more so I meant/assuming they're will be a BMW "premium" margin on it - or is it the same price? Never really too serious in checking it out.

Ok, so I had this great chat with a lovely lady at GIO today. My F30 is set for delivery on Saturday morning (all being well) and GIO do have the M-Sport Package as an 'add on option' to the Sport Line.
I have the Premium Package comprehensive cover with new for old no matter how long I have the car, provided I keep the cover with GIO. The special HUD compatible windscreen is covered - one per year, as is unlimited time for car hire up to $90.00 per day when the car needs repairs after a collision - heaven forbid!!! Absolutely my choice of repairer and no nonsense about the insurance company choosing the repairer. A terrific cover for a very fair price, compared to much lesser covers for more money!!! Check it out. Looking forward to my F30 on Saturday all being well.

Just over $1200.00, at least for this first year with 10 % discount & some offsets like only me as nominated driver over 40, increasing excess to $1500.00 (I've had $1200 excess for years and thankfully never made a claim).
I'm very comfortable with it.

No excess for windscreen replacement? If so, $1200 is a good price for new car replacement, did you list all the extra options? Like adaptive suspension, heated seats, prof nav, etc?
I finally have some days off next week to go insurance shopping, it feels like the car is coming too quick now. |

Hmm I actually think it's quite good. I like the repairer of your choice and new for new replacement.
I'll need to check how much i'm paying again. |

Just paid $920 to NRMA with new for old replacement for the first two years and the HUD windscreen extra cover (no excess for windscreen) - $20 cheaper than what i paid for the X5 on "Real Insurance" (NRMA was $1800 on the X5).
They use the option list you get from the purchase of your car to replace the new one for the first two years, then it's market value or agreed value (you choose when the time comes) |

Just had some quotes for a 335i M-Sport with options.
Allianz was $ 1360, with $300 excess, 2 years "New for New" replacement, plus windscreen replacement. MB insurance (QBE) was $1048, with a hefty $750 excess, 3 years "New for New" replacement, plus windscreen replacement. The MB insurance policy is a lot stronger and offers much better features for things like towing, choice of repairer, car hire, emergency accommodation and repatriation, etc, etc.

I am starting to lean towards GIO platinum. I would have gone Allianz but I worry that if I lose my no claim bonus the premium would sky rocket anyway. Quote is $1830.
Allianz is $1560 but goes to 1650 if I protect the no claim bonus. I only get 1 "free" no claim. Btw I made a claim in the past 3 yrs considered at fault. Some a-hole dented my car with a truck above the rear wheel arch but never owner up. In hindsight I should have paid out of pocket as I have been paying way more in lost discounts plus the excess since. As this is my first bimmer I am worried it will be a trouble magnet and prefer the peace of mind of platinum, even though I save a $100 or so with Allianz. Aami for my circumstances came to around $1300. But no choice of repairer nor protection of no claim nor free claim on glass. Not sure if they even replace the car if written off in the first two years. Platinum has lifetime new for old. It's the most I have ever spent on insurance but I feel if I don't get value I can always downgrade down the track Last edited by CKau; 02-26-2013 at 08:36 PM.. |

Everyone's circumstances are different but I am happy with AAMI. Got my rating protection and the premium just a touch over $1000 with yearly windscreen and unlimited car rental. |
