320xdrive EB Msport Auto
Can't quite believe that she is finally here!
1st 10 impressions briefly: 1. 2.0 petrol engine, although down on raw power, is fantastically refined esp at motorway speeds and, with auto box, very responsive. 2. Xdrive does feel 'different' but very planted esp accelerating hard from standing starts and sudden lane changes. 3. HUD is fantastic, Nav, phone and radio also appear which is great. 4. New Nav screen is much clearer and brighter and seems to just be quicker at responding. 5. Active Cruise is far better than I thought, used it on a country road and it had no problem keeping set distance at 50mph and brought the car to a gentle stop. 6. HK sound is immense. 7. Surround view is great but takes some getting used to, too many cameras can sometimes be distracting. 8. Comfort access to open boot can make you look stupid if it doesn't work first time as you must look a crazy guy repeatedly kicking his car to passers-by. 9. Adaptive Suspension is definitely worth the extra IMHO, absorbs bumps like no car I've driven before. 10. A real shame safety pack takes away cubby hole, wish I knew that before I spec'd it Overall, she is amazing not just because she is mine but because she's a BMW.

Lurvely. Woulda loved xDrive
Hopefully, in a couple of years time, BMW will have more xDrive models in the UK. I wouldn't want an X5 or Rang Rover as an every day car - too much metal for my taste. But a "luxury saloon car" with AWD is right where I'm at

Thanks guys. NISFAN in repsonse to your question about HUD - yes you have four user options about what it displays and I have taken a picture for you below.
Also did not realise that radio mode shows station data such as album covers and current song even on analogue signal, not sure if this is part of updated nav but I had not seen this before. Corona rings look great too.

Looks awesome. So glad I changed my spec to include the HUD, did it Monday with only a day to spare! I wonder how it displays the song name when only on an FM radio signal?

Nice one Mark, you'll not regret HUD. Not sure how it does it the song name in FM. In DAB you get the picture too but I was also surprised that it had song info in analogue. F30 tech is so impressive.

Also good to hear about the adaptive suspension; can you feel a big difference when you change from Comfort to Sport?

Crickey, I thought RDS was just for the station name! None of my other BMWs have been able to, so it seems like they've finally caught up

Looks well. And that new engine in the 320i is light years from the one in the E9x.
As far as display info is concerned, my wife's '09 Touran might not have song info but it does show what's on eg the station, which show, subject etc. Come to that so did my '08 Saab 9-3. Go BMW! |

I had tiptorinic auto in my audi a4 3.0 quattro s-line and I NEVER once used the paddles so for me it was not worth it. A personal thing.

Fair enough, did you try the BMW ZF sport box? Just interested in the comparison to the Audi one you had. It has been a while since I drove the 7 speed Audi tip box.

Yeah I did try the box for a test drive. BMW box is massively better, changes are seamless and there is seemingly always a gear ready (almost dct like). I am the most die hard manual fan but I would not go back to a clutch.
