I got my Faraday pouches from my insurers for free - happened to be giving them away when I amended my policy. Good old LV...

The cleaning stuff is not required - ceramic coating today and maintenance washes from next month!

Same here - we got a couple of GoSkippy branded ones from the wife's insurance, her car is keyless entry.

I thought this was old news!

People can grab the car key signal even when the key is inside your home and then relay it to a device that is beside your car, fooling the car that the key is present. I believe that this is only a risk for cars with Comfort Access (keyless entry, not where you have to press a button on the fob to open the car.) Google 'relay theft' and you will see videos of cars being stolen in this way. I have a couple of Faraday pouches for my wife's car keys but don't feel the need for my BMW as I don't have Comfort Access. The pouch shields the signal from the key so it can't be grabbed.

The new key fobs have motion detection - if there’s no movement of the key for a short (2-3 mins) period, it automatically stops transmitting until moved again.

I think BMW started quietly introducing them from sometime in 2018

Thing is you can't really test that can you, for the sake of price of a pint and packet of crisps you might as well have it in a pouch.

Absolutely, but came across this thread where the OP seems to have tested the theory...

https://forum.bmw5.co.uk/topic/13579...curity-update/

There’s a post later in the thread that suggests it’s G series models only for now.

The X3 M40i I tested had it, and the Genius guy told me it was now in all cars with comfort access when I asked about key cloning - so it must be true..

They will tell you anything to keep your mind at ease.

Nothing better than having layers of security vs a single layer.

I have disklok, ghost, pouch and security cameras.
