Software upgrade problems

My X3 in for first service today.

Dealer had problems updating the software. Looks like it crashed the whole hard drive. Trying it again overnight - could be a problem with head unit (??).

Anybody ever had similar problems?

In the new manual 320d.

Have you had CarPlay added by someone else by any chance?

No. Thankfully, no modifications at all.

You should be fine then, failed that it will be covered on warranty, how comes it went in for an update in the first place?

It came up as a recall. May explain why my system shuts down occasionally and then reboots.

Still not convinced it's just a software issue. Will see what tomorrow brings.

I had this on a f30 last year I updated the software and then the idrive would crash continually as I drove along I had to take it in and they did a full system restore from Germany apparently took 5 hours and after that it was fine but always worried me whenever I need to change any settings or update it incase it all went wrong again.

Matt.
