When is the iPhone 5 Media cradle going to be released?

Apparently my car requires the 'Media' version of the iPhone 5 cradle (part number 84212351309) instead of the 'Basic' and 'Connect' versions that are all over eBay. Does anyone know when this will be released? I'm starting to think that they aren't going to bother.

You don't want it.

Everyone who gets one uses it for a day, realizes its useless, and returns it. Save yourself the hassle.

Has anyone received better signal strength by using the cradle as it uses the shark fin for an antenna?

Any thoughts?

My current iPhone 4 cradle adds 1-2 bars of signal when I plug the phone into it.

According to the info in this post below, there is another kind of iPhone 5/5s Snap-in Adapter coming "early 2014" called the "Music/Media" snapin. I'm also wondering what this will offer.

http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=899940

I have the Tech Package which includes BMW Apps and I've downloaded the iOS app. The iTunes store says there is an issue with iOS 7 that you can't switch apps from iDrive. This means I can startup the iOS BMW App and select Pandora, then start the car and then connect my iOS Pandora to iDrive. This works nice and is a better interface to Pandora music from iDrive compared to just streaming Pandora over Bluetooth. For example, you can switch Pandora stations from iDrive which you can't do when streaming over Bluetooth. The better iDrive integration does require I plug the phone into the USB in the armrest. Frankly I'm not really sure its all worth it as I normally get in the car drive, get out, etc. and for short trips the simplicity and nice integration with Bluetooth is nice. But on longer trips the better APPS integration over USB is nice.

No, but I have been informed that it won't work. However one guy says that I can code my car to make it work using the eSys software floating around the forums. I've never tried it, but I might just do it.

I have this adapter and it works flawlessly. Sound comes in much better than Bluetooth, and it charges the phone fast. Only annoying thing (if I had to pick something) is having to awkwardly reach into the console to open BMW Connected Drive app if I forget to launch it prior to docking the phone. Of course, this is only an issue if I want to use something in BMW Apps.

I suspect you have the connect version as the media version has been postponed due to the changed apple interface (no video out on iPhone 5/5s) via new smaller connector.

Yes. I have the Apps version. Not sure what the difference is between mine and the regular Media version. However, I did get mine from a BMW dealer on eBay for $175 shipped. Just search the part number and you'll find some great deals.
