I'm confused. What happened? The Concept 4 looked so gorgeous. I told all my friends, "after the amorphous-blob inspired looks of the E92, BMW is returning to the glorious curves and creases of the E46". Nope. They've decided to stick with the blob look. Ugh.

Hilarious the completely different reactions to the same car, only in different colors (and camouflage), in this thread and the thread which first revealed the production Sport Line 435i @ http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=818697

This car looks ugly ugly ugly, the front fascia looks so bad. Damn BMW, could they ve gotten it at least a tiny bit closer to the amazing concept. It's crazy how their cars are getting uglier by time. Someone posted the new X5 pics the other day and it was horrible and way smaller than the current. I'm really worried how the new M4 gonna look.

My guess is it has to do with the color and remaining camouflage. The silver prototype here looks flat overall because of its color and the camouflage still covering up the entire character line and significant parts of the rear.

Whereas the completely uncovered dark grey F32 spotted earlier features a more flattering color, and looked even more dramatic in the night.

I think when the fancy official F32 photos come out soon, many will sing yet another tune.

Look how much difference the areas still camouflaged make:

I'm sure it will be a decent enough drive (its a BMW) but the finished design doesn't evoke the same response in me as the concept.

Looks uninspiring ...and too large. The old BMW E92, Benz C-class and E-class coupe designs are MUCH better.

Now the 2-series...

BTW: Silver imo is the best colour to show off a car's design in. Darker colours tend to lose the curves and features.

so is this like the Coupe for the current F30 3 series?!? So its a 3 series coupe but changed the name to 4 series???

But IMHO this car is not a WOW to me, its just ehh ok..... Like BMW (or any other company) always makes the prototype so amazing but then the real thing never looks like it! So looking back to the prototype it makes this car look ugly!

Maybe the 2er will give us something a bit smaller, lighter and more sporty and less GT-ish...

You know, its not that bad. I think the proportions are good! The only thing I don't like is the front bumper; however, it is likely to change for the M sport version. All in all, the M sport version is a definite buy

Tell me about it

I really don't understand why everyone absolutely hates it so much. It looks as expected, since we all saw the fully revealed car which received its praises from most people here!

I personally don't see that much of a departure from the concept. It's expected that the futuristic bits are not going to make it to production, that's why its called a concept! But this car is as close as a car gets to looking like the concept. Seriously.

That 'smiling' bumper was pretty much taken from the concept and toned down slightly. It's just missing the shiny bits that make it look better. I would say that if the black frame of those circular shapes change to the body colour, it would look better.

It looks perfect to me and actually better than expected - The SAME view that I'm sticking with since I saw the full reveal.

Just wait, in a short while everybody will be lining up at their dealers to buy one. Somebody should keep a list of those who bashed this car and then check to see whether they end up buying one!!

Interesting. Not sure what everyone was expecting...I did not expect the concept...I expected something in between the concept and the F30 in coupe form. It seems, to me, it is everything the concept was, outside of the extreme front and rear lower fascia elements (which we knew was not going to be as extreme...hello, It's a "concept" people). I think it looks great and the lower front has a more organic look than the F30 as well as a much sportier and sculpted profile. To me it is dynamic and sporty without looking too arrogant.

Looks like an Acura... Blah! I'm sure the M4 will look better (as it should) but I'm just so bored by BMW's design language lately. I wish most German cars still looked - wait for it- GERMAN! Bring back the squared shoulders and squat look.

I like this, and would add that the "Hype Cycle" graph is applicable. This graph is often used for computer tech trends, but it applies to almost anything where there is a lot of interest in new and improved technologies. I've annotated it here to reflect past, present, and future BIMMERPOST threads:

Think about how plain the E92 w/o a sport package looks/looked. Once it's dropped with wheels we'll know for sure but I do agree with most in saying that I expected more. The F30 leaves much to be desired also. I've clocked 30k miles between a 328 and now 335 and the overall feel is disappointing. The acceleration is awesome but handling, steering, brakes and seats are not what I would have expected compared to the E90/E92 platform. My F30, E92 M3 and F10 528 are all for sale. I'm a BMW whore though so i'm just b***hing ...
