Was driving from Sydney to Melbourne on the 23rd and had the exact same issue, car only had 2000km on it. Was going to overtake a truck going up a hill in the overtaking lane and lost all power. Car shuddered quite a lot, and I couldn't get any power at all in the car. I pulled her over when it was safe and googled the problem, restarted the car and the alarm didn't go away but the car did drive normally again. Have done almost 1000km since and no issues since.

Called BMW but not much could be done as it was Xmas Eve and I was in Bairnsdale so around 3 hours from Melbourne. Thankfully no issues since, will bring her back to the dealer when i get back to Sydney and see what the issue was. About an hour before the problem there had been torrential rain for around 1 hour which I drove though so the problem could be linked to that.

I had this issue with mine a couple of weeks ago as well. Left the car overnight and in the morning the warning had gone.

Mentioned it when I had a service and ended up having to have the software upgraded and problem solved.

It happened to me yesterday. I'm in USA with a 320xi. The issue hapened when I was going to an appointment, I was glad it rode back home about 40km, at speed 80-90km/h.
So after sometime at home the car "fixed itself". This morning no problems, seems to be OK. I'll take the car to the dealer, at least for records. I'm affraid it hapens again.

Well, it needed software update. Kind of ridiculous that I'm supposed to stop the car, and "reboot", Is it too much to expect reliability from a BMW?

It did it again.
Now, it is 6700 miles, one year in service, and this the second missfire issue. This time towed to dealer. They found lot of coolant (green stuff) in the injectors and spark plug. Seems like head gasket blown off, but they are not yet sure. Car belongs to my wife, no abuse, no mods. Just frustrating and kind of ashamed for paying almost $40,000 for a unreliable piece of crap. This is my third BMW, I'm feeling the ultimate driving machine translates as final, no more, end, last one.
By the way, because the crap broke more than 100 miles and out of state, they gave me a rental car, an economic one, a KIA RIO, and they don't know yet when I should get my car back. I think I don't need to say anything more.

Drive train malfunction

My car has less than 5000 miles on it 2018 330i and got this error message on drive train malfunction ! Ridiculous! Now I have to give up time to go the dealer an$ try to figure out what the problem is! Very disappointed in BMW! Very honestly going to these 4 cilinder cars was a good idea! Had a 218 before with a 6 cylinder, never had a problem with that engine!

Anyone facing this problem, this just helped me narrow it down to the spark plgus. Replaced them and car is running great.

Have you tried to look at the catalytic converter? I just narrowed it down to catalytic on mine through YOUCANIC website, you should look at it.

Bummer

I have some jerky power delivery issues in my 2016 440i coupe. Although I am on an extended service plan, the AD does not seem to care. I'm seriously considering leaving the dealership.
