B58 awaiting clearance from EPA

Hey All,

I am currently waiting on my 440i Convertible to get EPA approval according to my CA and BMW NA. I know my car has been sitting at the VPC for 10 days. Anybody ever heard of this or know anything? I know BMW Diesel has gotten EPA approval, but this engine hasn't yet???!?!!! I want my car!

THanks in advance

Gator, my MY17 340i arrived at port of Charleston 7/22 and was delivered to the Performance Center 7/26. I also have been told there is a Data Collection Hold on my car for EPA / CARB inspection. they can't schedule my delivery until the hold is released. I have completed all the paperwork, have my temp tag, etc. Sucks.

@tparm, thanks for the update. My 2017 440i Gran Coupe is scheduled to arrive in Port Hueneme on 26Aug16. Please update this thread when the EPA hold is lifted.

Well, at least I am not the only one. Still it is frustrating to have my car sitting at a VPC and I can't get b/c of EPA. It's been there 10 days, this is not this hard!

I too, have requested PCD but they won't even ship my car there until EPA clearance.

Will post update when EPA finally clears it

My 430i has been at new jersey port since July 20. I've read postings which say it usually takes 3 weeks or so for epa carb releases, so with that timeframe our cars will be headed to dealer by August 12.

Are EPA holds applied to each individual vehicle? Or - once a certain number of vehicles have been cleared, the remaining vehicles are cleared without being delayed?

I assume this is EPA rubber stamping the new 2017 cars?
I guess this needs to be done every year for the new year models?

Received this from my CA for what it might be worth regarding the EPA hold on my 340:

"Hi Chris,

I just got off the phone with BMW Distribution, they said hope to get all necessary paperwork completed by late next week. I will keep on top of the process."

Still waiting......

I can only assume once a production model of a given power plant and model year is passed they all pass, but I have no idea.

Thanks for all the updates. So ready for this car to get here. However, due to delays, I probably won't get to do Performance Delivery

Don't know what it means about the EPA, but my CA just confirmed my PCD date for September 1! Still seems like a long way of, but at least I have a date.

Check this link out, The EPA apparently has already reviewed the B58 engines.

http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find....n=sbs&id=37961

I ordered a 440i convertible which has the B58 engine.

I went with Alpine White with the M Sport Black leather interior with Blue stitching. The only option I didn't get was the wireless charging/hotspot thing.

As to our cars and the EPA still holding them hostage, still no say on when the release happens.

Yes...great news! Have had a 440GC sitting in Charleston port for about a week. Good luck to everyone getting delivery. Hoping for 9/15 PCD in South Carolina. Only bummer is the factory is closed for tours...due to capacity expansion.
Love my '07 base 328, but can't wait to move on.

According to my CA, still no release/Monroney label for b58 yet. BMW supposedly "working hard" to get it done. My CA says I can't get scheduled for PDC until release from EPA.

It has now been since July 28 that my car has been impounded. I am ready to get my car.
