If BMW Replaced it under warranty the core would be required to be returned to WPRC....

Perhaps some more info on why you removed it and selling it would help.

Wait so the insurance decided to replace a perfect engine? Or was there some sort of defect leading to that

I'm unsure of the specifics. I was told to replace the engine and that's what I did. I purchased the core charge and kept the original engine. I might end up just keeping it as a spare for my own 340.

If youre unsure of why/how the engine was replaced how can you assure people its "perfect condition". Obviously the insurance nor the dealer would be stupid enough to replace a perfect engine. And clearly if you were the tech replacing the engine or someone at the dealership who got the chance to buy the core, you can EASILY pull up the VIN or the work order as to why it was replaced.

I'm not sure what you're getting at exactly, why would I need to pull up any information if I was the technician that created it?

Technicians dont create work-orders, service advisors do. Also if you were the "tech that created it" how are you "unsure of the specifics"?? Something isnt adding up here.

Being as I'm not an insurance adjuster I don't make the decisions on what gets replaced under insurance claims. But since you're obviously very well versed in dealership operations you would know that technicians don't create work orders but the create not only the cause comments but the corrections as well.

If the block needs replacing then there is most likely something wrong or something that isnt showing signs yet but might soon. The only time I can see an ad like this being placed is if the car was totaled out yet u managed to somehow pull the undamaged block out of the car. But it coming out due to a new one coming in? hard to say. Glad you are being honest about the whole thing though.

I am being as honest and upfront as I possibly can. I do agree that that's possible but I've also seen a turbo flood with water and starve the engine of air before any damage was done, that's what I believe happened here. Engines that I've seen before that appear to run after a hydrolock scenario always had slight issues under full load which this one did not. Nevertheless, thank you for the response.
