*IF* you have the heated wheel option then the button is on the left side of the steering column.

I know many of u probably knew this before but I actually found this out yesterday and very very very happy.

Plus, I never knew my car had heated steering wheel! LOL It's really cool how the steering heats up in seconds.

Actually it is not only for ambient lights it for all the lights in the car it dims ambient light, gauges and center console lights.

By thw way almost all the cars nowadays have this dimmer.

I've never seen another car where you can change the level of the ambient lighting before - that's pretty cool. Obviously changing the brightness of the dials and dash has been standard for a decade or more.

Can you change the colour or mood of the lighting?

I know other cars have it and my parents merc's have it too...I was just so annoyed at how dim the ambient lighting in my car was until I rolled up the knob to the top!

Very happy with how bright everything is during the night.

While in Eco mode, put the car in cruise control and the efficiency meter stays all the way to the left. It seems MUCH more efficient than using the gas pedal.

There is two colors white and amber. White is not as visible as the amber on the light color interiors.

I like the ambient lightning at full brightness too.

You can change the color between Classic and you line name in Settings, Lighting. I don't know about the mood though, I think that's up to you!

Classic is a yellow-orange and Luxury (for me) is white.

I don't know if there are other colors for other lines.

I find that other than a completely flat road, I can do better than cruise control if I want to work at it.

Going up a hill I can let the speed drop a bit in favor of MPG and down a hill I can let it go a little bit faster. Down a moderate hill, the cruise control will apply the brakes so that you don't exceed the speed setting.

I agree that for a long trip cruise control is great, but it not always the most efficient as cruise control can't anticipate the terrain.

I haven't seen it mentioned here (this is getting to be a long thread), but I love the inside trunk lid pull-down handles. They are on either side of the license place frame.

I use them all the time to close the trunk without having to smudge or scratch the paint finish with my grubby hands.

The handle get the closing started and I finish by pushing down on the license plate.

At first, I thought this was the case but I left cruise control on while going on an incline today (a steep freeway bridge) and it stayed to the left... I was thoroughly amazed.

Saw this today when my wife stole the car! When you put the car in reverse at night, the outside door handle lights illuminate to light up the ground around you as you back up.

Does the base f30 328i also have this feature?

According to the BMW web site (BMW configurator, 2013 328i standard features), it looks like "BMW Ambiance lighting front and rear" is included in the base model

I'd make sure with the dealer before I ordered it though!

I've got the base model and do not have the option to change the colors... In options and lighting, I only get a brighter/dimmer selection.

Correct, two color choices.

Interesting the you and some others refer to "classic" as 'amber', 'yellow orange'.
It's distinctly reddish, no hint of orange.

I don't think there is a difference in lighting color between the lines, is there?
I have a 335i Msport, "classic" has a distinct reddish tint. Hold your hand out a bit below the rear view mirror and you'll see the light color easier.
Use a white piece of paper or envelope and check out the color again.
I wonder if there is a difference in the hue between the "lines"?

For those who may not know, you adjust the color and light intensity of the ambient lights with iDrive.

The bmw gauges color is mostly referred as amber on the forums/magazines. As I see the classic ambient color matches the gauges perfectly. I am not a native speaker of English so i took their word and use the amber for classic. After your comment I checked the dictionary, it says pale yellow, sometimes reddish. If you think amber is pale yellow it is definitely the not right word to describe the bmw color. As you mentioned it is more reddish but not exactly red IMO.

If we rephrase it classic mode is like the gauges, modern, sport, luxury is white.

I found it funny that they rename the same color of lighting with different names in the lines. How can the white color become sport, luxury and modern at the same time
