Rubbing noise from steering wheel - 2012 320i
I addition to the steering wheel vibration which I have been experiencing like many others, I just noticed this morning a rubbing sound coming from the steering wheel. Sounds like part of the steering wheel is rubbing against the dashboard. If I look between the very narrow space between the steering wheel and the dash I can see a small protruding piece of metal. Seems like the metal piece is rubbing against the dash. Not sure sure why this is happening. Anybody else is experiencing this?

The same problem has also appeared on my 328i. Creaking/rubbing sound whenever I turn the wheel. It's not very lound, but I'm finding it very annoying. Debating on whether I should take it to the dealer to look at. Afraid they won't really be able (or willing) to do anything about it.

Im facing the same thing , its a creaking/squeaking noise whenever you turn the wheel. I tried adjusting it but it starts making the sound after a few hours of driving the car. Its not loud but definitely annoying.

Mine is more of rubbing sound and happens around the 2 o'clock position on the steering wheel. I think mine has been there all along and I just realized it recently. In my case the sound of the engine, radio, or my hand sliding on the steering wheel masks the rubbing sound so it does not annoy me as much when I am actually driving. I usually hear it when I am parking or backing in/out of my parking garage.
I have the steering wheel vibration issue discussed in other threads so when my dealer calls me in a for a fix I will have them take a look at the rubbing sound as well. |
