Exactly this ^

There seems to be limits I.e if I buy $500 worth of litecoin the max I can set take profit too is $5000, but what it it's worth $100,000 in 10 years and I want to hold it until I choose to sell.

Is there any way to completely remove stop loss and take profit on there and just do things manually?

I like the platform, and its certainly a good way to potentially make a few grand quickly in a bull market, but I might be good to hold onto some of these long term and see where they eventually go.

You cannot remove the limits with eToro as far as I'm aware.

Didn't think so.. that's a bummer. There doesn't seem to be a way to just hold onto it and hope you can turn a $500 punt into the value of a house over a few years on there.

Try bitfinex and exchange it instead of opening positions.

I assume you must get access to addresses?

Can't you just send it to a cold wallet?

I brought GBTC so I can do this but I'm hoping to make significant money in a couple years not 10 years.

I think you'd have to buy through somewhere like coinbase to send it to a cold wallet.

Yes and last night they prevented trading on XRP for a while.

Maybe this is what allows the bubble to pop!

Yes I got caught by that. Inadvertently triggered trailing stop loss and then couldn't buy back in. Actually it ended up benefiting me as I bought back at a much lower price than the automatic Close, but still frustrating at the time.

I think with Crypto it just seems like gambling. I wouldn't risk it with any cash I wouldn't be 100% happy with it disappearing.

Currently sitting up £600 in a week. Could lose it all in an instant though!

I agree completely on the potential for 100% loss. Crypto is good for short term gambles/day trading with the long shot potential for massive returns.

Although aware of bitcoin I never seriously considered it in the early days. Missed the boat on ethereum though, was tempted near the beginning and lacked the bottle for the gamble!

When you see the likes of the Madrec project from UBS and others though, it does make me think that the ethereum platform has tremendous potential. So I do see that as a very high risk investment (akin to Russian oil or a potential unicorn) rather than a pure gamble.

Thing is you can make a decent 20% return if you buy when it’s crashing and sell a few days later when it has rebounded (both on eth and LTC). No need to tie your money in for longer than that unless you’re happy to gamble with them. For example today I wouldn’t buy any coin from BTC, LTC or ETH. They are either stabilising from a crash or popping which means you’ve lost your chance. Probably sometime next week when the money moves again it will be a decent chance to purchase.

I've bought some BTC, LTC and XRP over the past few weeks on Bitstamp and transferred to a hardware wallet. I'm going to keep long term and hope one of them goes mental. I'll probably lose it all but hey I can accept that if it happens!

What wallet did you get? I've been looking at the Ledger Nano S

I'm concerned about a hardware wallet breaking. I'm thinking of maybe getting a paper wallet.

That's the one I purchased. It works well and if it fails you can recover your account into a new one.

Cool .. I'll order one over the weekend then.

I assume it was simple to transfer from bitstamp to your wallet with no big fees?

No fees at all - the fees occur when you make the trade and buy the crypto not when you transfer to the wallet.
