What music are you going to drive to?
Alright boys and gals I'm excited and cannot sleep. My car will soon be on it way from munich. So what music have you played or will play on your first drive with the F30? Now I know for the large chunk of the time the engine + orgasmic murmurs from the driver will be the only sound, but there has to be a song to complete the bond. Im thinking Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd is fitting for the job.

This has always been a difficult decision for me, in my last car I loaded the 6 CD player with albums from Guns and Roses, Maze, Oasis, Marvin Gaye, Madness and a mixed blues CD
The first song I played was Joy and Pain by Maze In this car with the IPOD I have all my collection but as my daughter has just recorded a CD from her singing lessons it will have to be her singing "Love Story" by Taylor Swift Then a great blues playlist

No music. I just listened to the sweet sound of the engine (kept reluctantly below 4500 rpm). Eventually, I got a y-cable and installed my iPod mini as a permanent appliance in my car; first album is, ironically, AC/DC Back in Black.

First song to be played in my car will be Shoot to Thrill, AC/DC. Closely followed by a complete 180 in genre by Beamer, Benz, or Bentley by Lloyd Banks.

Soundtrack from Grease and as much Cher as possible.
Seriously though for me, NFL Radio or Howard Stern. Maybe the Jason Ellis show depending on time of day. All Sirius all the time. Last edited by jtuds; 05-09-2012 at 05:10 PM.. |

These are important decisions you know! I spent at least a week sorting out my iTunes collection and refining playlists before my car arrived. Incidentally, I reverted from my original iPod plan to using a flash drive. I just put all my favourite tracks and albums on the drive and refined them into about 7 Genres. That way I can just pick House / Trance / Chilled / Hip-Hop / Rock etc and there's never a bad track!
I started with Nick Warren's Lima from the Global Underground series - so many great driving tracks on there. But I soon loaded up some guitar: Back in Black (love AC/DC!), Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, The Stones, some G'n'R and even, yes, some Dire Straits! |

What file formats does the new idrive accept? I am planning on connecting a 250GB usb hard drive with a massive library, that way all the songs are always there no matter what. Also does anyone know if it take mac hdd?

I remember a Top Gear episode where they were trying to find the best driving song. Actually, it was over a few episodes as I recall. I think "Radar Love" was one of the candidates.
