F30 Roof bar difference

Can anyone tell me the difference between the original 82712295099 versus the newer 82712361814?

Do these details answer your question? Other than being slightly lighter (measurement error of 90 grms if anything), the Gen II should be no different to Gen I.

I use Thule Aero Blade on mine and have no regrets. It is actually more slimmer and more useful imho than OEM as it is a little wider and there are no obstructions at the top, side to side along the whole length of the bars to carry flat pcs (4 x 8 plywood or drywall with 8' supports on the edges).

Thanks but that’s all info online and I’ve already seen. My question really comes down to how it mounts to the roof of the car and if the newer one provides any better support or protection. Basically are there any changes to the physical design.

I looked through the images of both actual part numbers and I could not see anything significantly different between two. One would need to physically obtain both Part numbers and do more thorough inspection side by side in order to identify differences.

The part number change could be due to change of supplier to BMW, even without any change to actual design of the bars.

Judging by the overlapping time period of 3(!) years, highly likely, both part number are identical. Also, to me, this means that they were manufactured by different suppliers as it makes no sense for the same supplier to be making the two different and nearly identical products under the same roof without confusion in manufacturing lines.
