Summer tires with a bigger sidewall for M403 wheels

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2018 BMW 330i xDrive MSport on stock M403 wheels with a 19" staggered setup:

Front: 225/40R19 (8J - ET36)
Rear: 255/35R19 (8.5J - ET47)

I have 29,000 miles on the clock with Bridgestone Potenza S001 RFTs. Although the tires have 5/32" tread depth left, I'm planning to replace these with Non-RFTs and looking at Continental DWS Series and Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 tires.

I want to increase the sidewall height to improve the ride quality and considering 225/45R19 (F) and 255/40R19 (R). This would increase the front rolling diameter by 3.4% and by rear rolling diameter by 3.8% as compared to stock tires.

Please advise if this setup would work on these stock wheels.

Thank you!

Switching to 255/40R19 tires will result in 27" overall diameter which I personally find to be too big for the F3x platform. If you want better comfort and handling I would strongly recommend switching to 18" wheels. That way you can have more rubber and still be spot on 26" diameter with 255/40R18 tires.

Thank you for your response.

I don't plan to invest in new 18-inch wheels. I guess I'll stick to the stock tire size.

This is more focused on width than height but you might find some info relevant https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...5#post25578475
