i'd say wait until the car gets here. if its prewired for the phone and just needs the box, antenna & speaker, then take the $1500 and install those yourself, getting the install for free from the dealer if you buy part from them. if not then reorder.

RPM - Eesh man, that's a book!

To clarify here's what my options are:

$1500 off my BT/USB-less car. BT is absolutely necessary for me, as I spend a lot of time in the car traveling to clients, and I can't stand janky add-on universal BT adapters.

Re-order, and the dealer will pay for the HK audio upgrade. This amounts to about $800-900, I've forgotten the option cost.

To me, I'm not willing to just suck it up and say "yea, I wasted two months waiting for a car while you held my deposit, and I'm willing to wait another two months for an $800 discount." My time and frustration at this situation is worth significantly more than that.

As far as it not being the dealership's fault, you have a point - but like it or not, they're the public face of the company. I do not fault my CA in the slightest; in fact, I've lined up a friend who is interested in buying the car I've turned down, in the hopes that my CA still receives his commission.

I wont deny that I'm feeling pretty frustrated by how BMW turned a very exciting experience into a really annoying and upsetting one; for that reason alone, I expected a bit more from them in terms of making it right. They didn't hit that expectation, so I'm going elsewhere with my money.

I may just stick with my Viggen for another year and see what's out there next spring/summer.

Joel -

I understand, if I may sound like I'm overreacting, but to me a $45k car is a significant spend. I don't buy cars every 2-3 years, and I don't toss that kind of money around lightly. Making a commitment to make that kind of a purchase implies a degree of faith in the quality of the product and the service; BMW failed on both counts, so I'm taking my money elsewhere in response. I wish all of the happy F30 owners out there good luck - it's a great car that I'm sure they'll enjoy.

Chris
Ok.
Take care Chris, and good luck.

The ATS is definitely worth a test drive.
If it were available before my BMW order, I would surely have tested it on a few test drives.

Next year will give you the option of the new A3 sedan, and that one looks VERY sweet indeed.

Seems you like to purchase your cars.
That's cool, of course nothing wrong with that.
You may want to consider leasing though.
It's a great way to limit frustration with lack of quality and service, by only being tied to that particular car, dealership, and brand for the 2-3yr lease term. If things get that bad, you can easily move on to whatever suits your fancy.
This will be my 4th lease, and I find the benefits of leasing very agreeable, especially since I haven't had any negatives with it.

Discount in either direction.
Its not the dealership's fault, but BMW should compensate the dealer more than $750 for this. Its a standard feature in cars priced half as much and i chose the 2013 over the 2012 which had more rebates to get those features standard.

$1500 off would be the minimum i would take as compensation for this otherwise it makes more sense to re-order

Does anyone know the range of dates of production for the cars affected? My car was completed on Aug 10, awaiting shipping, and the CA says he has not gotten notice that the car has been affected by the issue.

You are in LA? Out of curiosity- does your order paperwork say if your car was model 133O (SULEV) or 133N (regular)? Not sure if all cars in California are ordered as 133O for emissions, but the dealer bulletin only says that model 133N was affected.

I think it used to be that not all cars in CA were SULEV, but that was 3-4 years ago. My guess is that they are all SULEV now.

Turns out my 328i is one of the cars effected. My dealer hasn't mentioned anything about this to me yet. I just emailed him to ask. No 6NHA listed when I check my VIN on http://bmwvin.com.

I can't believe BMW is offering just $750 off for a must have option on luxury cars. I sold my car as I'm expecting delivery next week. So I'm going to re-order and ask for a loaner while I wait. Unless BMW wants to make if up to me some other ways like, extended maintenance or say $1500 off.

Had a Sportsline in transit...but what are the odds...appears I was affected as well. I wish I had these odds with the last Powerball drawing that was 350 million.

So called the dealer and basically said the same thing...$750 off. I think Bluetooth is one of the options that you use a lot without thinking about how nice it is to have. If you get any aftermarket bluetooth it will not be the same quality.

So what to do?
1) They still have a 2011 335d that I was initially interested a month ago when I ordered the F30...Basically loaded, sports package, Nav, ...It was a loaner with 10k miles. I could probably get it for $37k. I think the MSRP was like $54k.

2)Reorder an F30, but this time get the M Sports Package. It would only be an extra $1300 from the Sportsline. The only reason I didn't order the M Sports package in the first place was I didn't want the perception of being a wanna be M3. But after seeing pics of the M Sports package..its just a great looking car. But again..I would have to wait another 2 months for it being complete...

If this Bluetooth issue didn't happen then everything would be fine. I would be happy with my sportsline...but because this issued happened, now I have to figure out what I want to do again.

2011 335d or Order again???

If I wwere in your position I'd tell the dealer to stuff his car and order another new one and just stand the wait. You've got to live with and in this car for a long time and you're spending a lot of money on it ... so get it right and then there's no regrets

You don't want a 2 year old model. I would reorder but ask for a substantial discount to make up for the additional 6-8 week wait. Let us know how it works out.

Given that BMW are offering $750 as a "discount" for your troubles if you accept teh car you didn't want, I wouldn't hold your breath for much discount for getting the car you do want albeit a couple of months late

how long are you going to keep the car? if you're buying to own for a long time then I'd say get the new car because a few years from now your car will be really old and you'll still be staring down years of ownership. if you get a new car every 3 years or so, go for the D. that 335d is an insane and amazing car.

Guys, anyone knows if the aux jack is missing too? Since its essentially part of the same strip that holds USB jack inside the arm rest. My CA couldn't answer this question.
