Angry Dead/faulty Twin scroll Turbo! After 5000 miles only..

Sad to say but after owning several 3 series including a 2011 M3, I can say today that my 2013 335i M-sport is the most disappointing after experiencing a turbo failure of some sort along with other less severe issues.

Symptoms:

-last few weeks upon starting , turbo made a weird noise like you would hear if someone threw a leaf into a fan, but it would go away.

-Then yesterday on my way home I noticed an absence in boost/power when accelerating followed by a high pitched blow off sound...

-10 minutes later the car seems to have reverted to a very weak-no turbo- engine and when I put my foot down to test the kick down mode...nada!

-Does not matter if I'm in sport mode, this car has clearly failed me and I'm not an abusive driver. All I can say is that I adjust the settings quite often from ECO,Comfort to SPORT.

Going to take off work to service but I'm going to dread every moment. Be aware folks and let me know if you are experience the same problem...

Now I'm sure the ATS has a chance.

So you've had no diagnosis by BMW and you're convinced your turbo is dead? There could be many other reasons, not the least of which might be a leak in the turbo plumbing, particularly the charge pipe. I'd wait to get the official diagnosis before declaring to the world that this is some sort of endemic problem.

+1, a little premature to place the blame on a turbo failure... sounds like a vacuum leak.

Things break, that's why you have a warranty.

As was mentioned, there are other things that will cause those problems that have nothing to do with a failed turbo.

You may find out you had a rock shoot up and hit one of your hoses in just the right place to cause a vacuum leak. If there is any leak in the system, you lose boost. My wife flipped out on VW when her EOS lost boost. Turns out she backed off a high curb and cracked the intercooler...damn you VW!

Post what your results are when you take the car in for service.

I'll put money on the fact that it's a intercooler piping that's popped off.

Stay Calm, Boost on.

Yeah Carlos, where've you been? there's an entire limp mode thread for 335i msport owners. I expect they'll find the culprit to the issue and provide a good will extended warranty on that part.

Good posts guys. I was self diagnosing this as being turbo prematurely but I was wrong. The next day I took it into service and they said it was some fan attachment but nothing was replaced, who knows if it will return. I guess this is "limp mode" as the one person pointed out having to do with a fan of some sort and the car not allowing you to go above 2-3k followed by a very loud fan noise. Thanks for the replies, I'll keep updating as this situation unfolds...
