Same thing happens to me, my car is a lazy cow when i don't floor it ... or maybe it is by design, you know, so you don't blow your tires after 3 lights ?

So, little recap: you want to go fast, push you right foot down until you reach a "resistance point" called the floor. Also it helps to know your gearing, at 1000 rpm it won't accelerate much, at redline it won't accelerate much more either.

LOL no the handbrake wasn't engaged.

Last Saturday,
heading to the BMW dealership for an oil top-off (i could have done it myself)
I was on surface street, just pulling off from a green light...
on my right side, i notice a early 90s accord
pulling away from me, half a car's length...
i must be around 30-40 mph...

he must a tad faster... and accelerating..

I stayed in Comfort mode...

for a little bit of fun, i give it a friendly chase, but i didn't want to be like a dick on surface street.
so i stayed below 60, but that Accord was ahead of me the entire time...

I guess part of my discomfort and temporary disappoitment over my car are due to:
1) i didn't switch to sPORT Mode
2) I DIDN'T tried hard enough to over take that accord, didn't smashed the throttle
3) didn't use the whole potential of THE f30...
4) i thought it would have been easier for me (with my F30) to over-take that Accord.

I guess i need to throw more money at it...
I loved your ED post BTW so don’t take this the wrong way. A Kia can go as fast a Ferrari if the driver is not trying in the sports car. Any type of drag racing and especially with a manual transmission requires efficient and full boar use of the power. I really believe you experienced driver error. To be honest unless you know how to race a stick you will lose to cars all the time as fast as or even slower than you. Racing is an all-out sport so if you are 3/4 throttle not in an optimum gear a base line civic with a spirited driver can walk all over you. Go to the drag strip and see people with 11 second cars run 15’s. Before spending any money learn to drive your car to its brink and then learn to balance it. Remember your car properly driven is a fast as a Camaro SS.

S4 0-60 times were 4.4 sec, that will run neck and neck with m3. How is it matched for 335i? That means s5 smokes m3?

Audi lease terms and residuals are horrible compared to BMW. A $5,000 cheaper S4 was $125 more per month than the 335 to lease and that was with an 8% supplier discount I get through my employer.

In a straight line the S4 is half a second slower 0-60 (M3 3.9) and 3/4s of a second slower in the 1/4 mile (M3= 12.2 -12.4). Handling is no contest an M3 will eat a S4 like it was soft serve. The M3 competes with the RS4 and and RS5 but really who cares, buy the car you want. I chose the 335i over the S4 for many reasons. End of the day both are great cars just depends on your wants and needs.

I got a Price in August on a built to order Prestige S4 and a 2k higher MSRP that was only $65 more a month. What do you dislike about your F30 so much?

As a side note if you buy through USAA you get much bigger discounts on a 335i than an S4.

Yes Car and Driver got 3.9 and Motortrend got 4.1 so yes its faster then 4.7. Bmw is known for underating cars. The M3 is faster than an RS5 or RS4.

Thanks i am not taking it the wrong way..

i think all of you are right, it's just me. Nothing wrong with the car...
i just being a bit overly sensitive

I am certainly not exploiting my car to its full potential.

How can you do this:

when you constantly fear this being around the corner...

If you want to go by manufacturer stated 0-60 times, the S4 is 4.9 and the 335 xdrive automatic is 4.8! I drove the S4 and now own the 335 xdrive, and they feel almost identical, ONE magazine rated the S4 at 4.4, others have been 4.5-4.7. No magazine tests on the 335 xdrive yet but I bet its around 4.5-4.6. Remember we are just talking 0-60, and the 335 has the same torque as the M3 but the Xdrive can put the power down better, so it wouldn't be shocking for it to be only 0.5 seconds slower.

Car vs Car, I would have taken a S4 if all Audi dealers weren't A$$holes, and if their lease rates or willingness to deal off MSRP were halfway decent. You see posts all the time of people getting 3 series for just over invoice and almost everyone can get it below invoice after incentives, there is no such thing with Audi, they want MSRP or close to it for the S4/S5 and will laugh at you if you even try to ask for a discount. In the end I am happy with my decision, the Estoril Blue M Sport is better looking than any color S4 exterior, interior is a toss up to me, I like idrive better than Audi's interface but the seats and steering wheel are awesome in the S4. it just came down to money and the BMW has a much lower total out of pocket expense over 3-4 years.

many posters over at audizine claim that 500 over invoice is easily attainable if you go through the internet and get dealers fighting for your business.

but perhaps your area is different as many of these posts came from ny/nj users.

Both of these cars are pretty fantastic. Long term I'd be a bit concerned with Audi's reliability but the Audi drives better IMO.

Yes, but Audi dealers rationalize this by saying "our leases are realistic and based on true value at lease end". Ummm..... Who cares?

I almost when I heard this. Next rationale they'll have is that BMW scheduled maintenance is not cheaper than Audi which requires you $pay$ for maintenance every 10K miles (and 5K for 1st break in check up).
