F30 iPhone mount
Hey guys,
My 2013 nav-less 328i xDrive arrives in about a month, and I'm looking for a clean iPhone(5) mounting solution. Has anyone found any nice vent/cupholder mounts for the 2012+ 3 series? The only thing I am against is windshield mounts, as I don't want cables running across half of the car. Cheers.

I like the options from Pro Clips, but they only have a vent mount, and something for the left A pillar. I want something for mounting near the e-brake, or just to the left of the shift knob, and they don't have anything for that location. I would want to keep it connected via Lightning/USB, so it needs to be close to the armrest.

Right, cup holder might be the best solution, although it does take away one of them They have a mount for the older iPhones and the E9x cars that sits in a perfect spot hanging off the right side near the shifter.

This looks like it might be the best option, perhaps someone here has one already and can let us know how it is.

Also interested in hearing this answer -- this mount seems like it might be good, if not a bit of an eyesore.

you unscrew the bolt to your seat closest to center console and screw it back in with that mount. i measured it, the position is perfect. they have iphone mounts.

I bought a MacAlley m-cup holder. For me it puts the phone in a perfect position when using the cup holder on the right.
http://www.amazon.com/Apple-iphone-H...ly+mcup+iphone Only problem, of course, is when you a have someone in the passenger seat with a drink. Otherwise, I'm really happy with it. |

Sorry guys, been busy. Yes, it does expand/contract wider/narrower, and can hold phones thicker than an iPhone 4. It can flip from portrait to landscape as well.
It also firmly holds whatever position you set up. I was afraid I would have to adjust the cradle every time, but luckily I can just slide my phone in and out from the top without affecting the position. You put it in the cup holder and then turn a knob to expand the base and make it tight. There is a slight amount of play, so with that, and the slightly pliable gooseneck, you can man-handle it into position and it'll stay there. My buddy thought it was some OEM option, so I guess it doesn't look stupid. The only drag was when we both got drinks and I realized I needed to remove it for him (unlike my wife's minivan which has like 27 cup holders). So if you have passengers who frequently have drinks, I'd skip this route. Last note - without the phone in it, there is a very slight rattle. Otherwise, for 13 bucks, there's certainly nothing to lose. |

I've got the centre arm rest cradle thing and although I've only had the car for just over 24hrs, I've already left the phone in the car three times
Food for thought

Way too low IMO. That's the whole reason idrive is high. Will be ordering that arm that bolts in to seat screw soon.

Has anyone routed a charging cable to the glove box? Will it charge the phone and does it effect anything, given that that plug is for syncing only? I just want to charge the phone with the cable mostly hidden.
