Kpeng: Project Estoril 335i M-Sport Build Thread

Hey guys, some of you may know me from my days on E46fanatics (the E46 is still for sale if you are interested). The purpose of this thread is to just keep a journal on my F30 build.

Recently, I picked up a 2014 Estoril Blue M-Sport 335i from BMW Of Pembroke Pines. It's a 6-speed and the first owner already installed a BMW Performance Exhaust, BMW Performance Black Kidney Grills, painted reflectors, tint, and the upgraded 19" 403m wheels. Those of you who remember my E46 will be sad to know that I am not going to be going too far with this car, as it is a comfortable daily that just needs a little personalizing and more power. The goal of the car is to maintain an OEM look with some aggressive accents, some minor performance enhancements, and to be a clean fun daily.

That said, here's the car...I took these photos of it on the lot the night before I took ownership of it.

There were some scratches and dents on the car, namely this on the driver's side rear bumper and fender where it looks like the car was hit by another vehicle or shopping cart. Chunks of paint were missing, but I managed to talk the dealer into repainting this and correcting all the issues.

And the after...can't even tell.

First thing's first...got a great deal on a used JB4, Burger Tuning intake, and an ER 4" Downpipe. Still deciding whether I want to do the downpipe because it'll get too loud...

Cleaned up the intake a bit...

On the car...

Downpipe is HUGE. 4" catless.

For anyone looking to use their iPod in the car and don't want to pay BMW's absurd price for their adapter, I found this cable off Amazon that works perfectly for $9.

Also found a lip spoiler for the trunk from Advance Tuning off eBay for $89. Fit and finish is PERFECT. Paint matches the Estoril Blue II perfectly as well. Very surprised as to the quality of the piece.

Color comparison between the lip and the trunk

Also got this bad boy in the mail today. UUC Evo 3 short shifter + UUC weighted knob. Big shoutout to Rob @ UUC for taking care of me. These are the best short shifters on the market, bar none.

Like an original Apple Cable? I tried that and it didn't work. Please elaborate.

I use the 30pin that is the updated cable. It has the shorter base to the 30 pin side

Looks terrific!! I may be a little biased because I basically have the same car

Hows the M performance exhaust sound with the stock down pipe?

Incredibly when the flap is open, very quiet when it's closed. I will report back once I get my JB4 installed and I set the flap to open always.

A couple small projects today, painted my front calipers and installed some eBay slip-on pedal covers.

Here's a little before-shot. These unpainted M-Sport brakes stop great, but look so plain.

Decided to go with a burnt copper color. I have a can of VHT Engine Enamel Burnt Copper + some VHT Engine Enamel Gloss Clear.

Wire brush + 400 grit sandpaper + brake cleaner + lots of ghetto masking later...first 2 coats. Did 5 coats in total, 2 coats of clear.

The finished product...in no way is this a nod to the Florida Gators.......Go Gators...

Also got these in the mail. Cheap as hell off eBay for like $35.

Look great in the car. These are the no-drill ones that go over the gas pedal and replace the rubber cover on the clutch and brake pedals. Some people complain it's hard to install, but I just lubed it up with some WD40 and it slipped right on with a little finesse.

Looks great.

Did you only paint the front calipers?

Do you have link to pedals?

Yes, just the fronts. I don't think it would look good on the rear calipers. I may just repaint them silver. Here's a link to the pedals:

Same seller should have the auto version if you need that.

Nah, no stickers...I think it looks good with nothing on it.
