I have always wondered why many of the bmw 3 and 5 series i see in my city have bent rear suspension links - you notice because the rear tires are not 90 degrees to the axle, rather the tires are bent outward making the car look awful. Anyone know how much stress or beating the rear f30's suspension can withstand before starting to bend outwards?

I think this have to do with the load on the suspension, or if the car is lowered or something. If I understand you right.

Uh... i think you're referring to the negative rear camber which is built in to bmw's suspension tuning. It's part of the reason why bmw's handle so awesome (greater contact patch, less roll on corners) It is also why bimmers burn through rear tires faster than front tires, and why rotating front to back is NOT recommended with bmw. This is actually a good thing, and has nothing to do with stress on the rear axle or joints.

Wow serious? So the awkward rear angle actually helps in turns? I would have thought it affected traction and wasnt acually meant to be in that position... Weird but i guess i can trust the germans, sneaky geniuses the lot of them!!
