Quick Hello...from the E90post
Just thought I'd type out a quick little intro before I sign out for the night: Today I bought my first brand new car ever, a present for my 25th birthday, and I am in love. I signed the lease papers for a 2014 328I Xdrive with the following specs: Sportline package, Glacier Silver, Dakota Black leather, Navigation, Cold Weather Package, Premium Package, Driver Assistance package, and perhaps one or two other things I forgot about.
I am upgrading from an E90 328I (which I still have and is going to be used by my parents/sister). I was looking at a 2011 E90 335I non-sport, the 2015 A3 2.0T premium plus, and a base F30 328I. The reason I went with the F30 is because of the overall package - no it is not as quick as the 335I, but it feels much more modern inside, has way more interior space, much better seats, looks a lot newer, and is about the same to about from 0 to 40/50 as the 335I. The A3 would have been a good choice, but in the end it was smaller, much lighter steering, didn't look as good, and the interior felt very barebones despite having good options. I feel like this 2014 F30 is perfect balance - it is quite quick when you put it in sport or sport+ (way faster than my E90), returns good MPG, has a very nice interior, very spacious, looks great, feels modern, and has traditional bmw handling/braking, although the steering is lighter than previous generations. Overall I am very happy with the car, and am having a feeling that I'm going to purchase after lease-ends. I do still have some upgrades I'm going to do that are reasonable - the grills, spacers, possibly eibach springs, and most importantly a tune. All in good time but here is a potato pic to keep y'all satisfied:

Yes car has Sport+ (pretty sure that's standard for sport-line models if not all 2014 F30s):
More gratuitous photos taken with my crappy S4: As you can tell no paddle-shifters

I thought going into this that I would keep this car stock, but i can never do that with any of my cars, especially my BMWs.
Right now my plans within the next 6 months are exterior focused: tinted windows, black kidney grills, dipped wheels, body-colored reflectors, some spacers. Beyond that I am considering swapping the suspension to a very mild drop - i.e. Eibach springs or swap the M-sport springs. But I can't do anything drastic like on my E90 because a) this car is new, warrantied and I don't want to jeopardize that b) I am going to be living in MI where the roads are terrible and the winter is long/hard so I need all the clearance I can get. Performance - definitely will get an intake and a Stage 1 tune. I am praying that Dinan, BMW, or Cobb release a tune that is either factory warrantied or simply an access port. But I am very satisfied with the performance now.
