Yes, but for what reason?
I don't think anyone here really know why they don't do it anymore, but people love to assume a lot.

I for one can't really understand why people show so much hate on these badges. I wouldn't put one on my car, but it is not like it is hurting someone if the OP has one. The ones owning an M ain't going to cry themselves to sleep because of this.

Considering the amount of ///M-badges BMW put on their "M Performance" products I don't think they are too afraid of watering out the M-brand. Nowadays it is more like Audi's S-Line.

It's not like he put a M3-badge on the trunk. Lighten up folks!

As the consumers, we DO decide what is and what is not accepted. BMW designs their cars to satisfy the consumers. It's called business sense.

From the amount of defensiveness you've dumped on this post, I highly suspect you have an M badge on your car

I think the ridicule over such a small feature on a car is childish. It's an M-Sport, M-Sport being given its name I would guess to make the car LOOK LIKE the M-series vehicles. I would agree with everyone if he was making his car look like something it is not, but I dont see an M3 badge on there anywhere. I would think anyone with an M-Sport package is a poser if just a simple M badge is thought of the same way. I already have people who asking me if my car is an M3 as is.

Debadging an M-Sport of its 328i or 335i logo could easily be seen as the same thing. My car looks like an M3 but it clearly says 335i or 328i, so if I take that away then the non enthusiast will think I have a cooler car.

And ironically I do have an M on my trunk but I guess mine is more acceptable for some odd reason?

like I said in previous quote, I only have problem when the badge is where one would expect a car identifier badge, aka on grill, on trunk lid, side of car. I have nothing against liking M cars, having M parts, hell put M performance decal on it. But once you put the official M badge were make/model information is supposed to be, you're claiming your car as an M.

Black on red always looks nice. And absolutely leave the badge, if it pleases you! I agree with another post that suggested it might have looked better next to the 335.

But I think your referring to those who remove any claim of what the car really is and replace it with an M, such as debadging and adding an M badge. That in fact could be a more blatant claim than any. Everyone is flaming him as if he were blatantly claiming his car is an M, even though an M by itself is in fact not a car. The M3, M5 and M6 are cars but I get your point.

I don't think he could have placed the badge in a more tasteful manner than where he did. We all know the M identifier is only followed by the model line, is on the passenger side of the trunk, it's not on the grille which doesnt exist anyway. So everyones claim to him posing couldn't be further from the truth. It's not like he created his own ///M 335i by placing the badge directly to the left of the model.

Not to mention everyone believes the 335i to be under marketed by the fact it is not differentiated enough from the 328i. I for one would love to have some sort of identification to my 335i to hold it to a higher standard of a sports car and less of a A4/C300 competitor because it's not even in the same class. And as many have said, if BMW had put the badge there this argument would not exist but in fact most 335i owners believe the car deserves something more of a sport identity.

I think the M badge WITH the Model Line on the trunk as well makes no claim to being something that it is not.

The car looks amazing! I'm sure an enthusiast as yourself posted the pictures of his car with the community to share it with everyone, not get ridiculed by haters because of a tiny badge that doesn't do anything.

Great looking car - personally I love the Melbourne Red (as you can tell)

While personally I wouldn't put an ///M badge on the rear (it's a bit like sticking an RS badge on an S Line Audi), everyone is free to do what they want

Badging, badging... that's so blase, so distasteful. Do what I did, Sir, and debadge your car. Not because you are better, and not because you are worse - because it doesn't matter, and the only true beauty is in unblemished forms of simplicity.

You must have an IQ of at least 160 to propose such a good idea; we are all lucky to have a thinker of such significance and consequence in our midst! Just kidding; we're all passionate enthusiasts here .

But, if you remove it - front and back - you are left with an indentation and an obvious void. So, you would have destroyed the concept of cleanliness and order by doing so - you lose the whole idea of balance (it just doesn't look right). I see where you're going and you've made your point, but your point is full of fail. Sorry about it.

Wow, what a smart conclusion in the end. Are you a rocket scientist?
No wait, my bad. My car is de-badged completely. But just because I don't want something on my car doesn't (in my opinion) allow me to bash others. Fine people can have opinions about styling, but the comments here is like he broke the law.

And to say that you and some others here truly believe you have the right to say what is and what is not acceptable is just laughable.

No point in debating this anymore. Over and out!

OP asked for our opinion. We gave it. You decided to butt in, make some nonsensical points, and now you're out. Shrug.

I personally find even the fact that there's an "M-sport" line hilarious. But as already pointed out, its your car so irrespective of what other people think, do as you please with it

Wink

Your car is simply beautiful... with or without this M badge.
I don't see the problem with this badge ? It is written M and not M3 as it is written on the rims, the steering wheel... I support your choice since... I have the same badge on my car !!!
And I do not want people to believe that this is a M3 !!!

I also got luxury but it wasn't a choice, my local BMW only offer 335i in Luxury (Stupid Idea), & ended up spending thousands of dollar to retrofit my car to M-Sport.
