I don't know, man. I'm all for granular market segmentation, but yeah. Does the world really need an X1, a 3-series wagon, a 3-series GT, and a 4-series GC (if it does turn out to be a hatch) at the same time? The difference between a 5 sedan and a 6GC I get. I would have gotten the difference between a 3 sedan and a non-hatch 4GC too. But I don't know what this thing is or who it's aimed for.

That is big. And fiesty! I lam digging this so far. The full reveal will show the true line of this bad boy and I am expecting nothing less than a baby 6 GC. It will be stunning in M Sport and 19 rims. You just wait and see.

Pop quiz: does anyone know which of the following models the 4 GC will share it's chassis with?
f30 (3 series sedan) f31 (3 series touring) f32 (4 series coupe) f34 (3 series GT) f35 (3 series sedan long wheel-base) f10 (5 series) ? |

all they did is exterior changes on this vs the 3 series, the inside is exactly the same, same options... they really should have offered some 5 series options for the price premium this car will command. Should have offered options like night vision, Nappa leather, ventilated seats. Give me some options the 3 series doesn't have and I might look at buying this car, otherwise I wouldn't spend $6K more or however much it costs just for its "coupe" styling.

Chassis?! Some parts from the coupe for sure. Platform wise i think it will share it with the 3 series LWB

I like it. It looks really good so far. I can only imagine how sexy the msport model will look. Doubt I'll be able to afford it though :/

Does it ride on the 3-series long wheelbase platform they offer in China? The 4er GC looks longer than the 3er sedan...

No. Two different models.

On the 4GT it is more of a pronounced hatch, like on the 5er GT. Hence all the camo on the rear of the test cars. Quote:

Watching that video it just goes to show you how well balanced BMW cars are at the limit. Part of it is that test driver being fairly smooth at the controls... but you can really see how sporty the 4GC is.
It would be really killer if BMW were to decide to build a M4GC. (even though they say/insist they will not).

Why the confusion? All you have to do is count...
1er (future sedan, touring and GT) 2er coupe, (future vert and gran coupe) 3er sedan touring and GT 4er coupe, vert and (future gran coupe) 5er sedan touring and GT 6er coupe, vert and gran coupe 7er sedan Odd numbers are sedan touring and GT, evens are coupe, vert and gran coupe. I can't wait to see this! I hope they follow it up with a 2er gran coupe!
