But people do it anyway. You know why? Because people are morons.
this, totally agree

I even had to use one of those plug adapters to plug it in. Definitely a conscious effort, like putting 87 octane into my leased vehicle. If you look at the fine print on the power tool you'll see that it works between 120 and 240 V and that 50/60 Hz. Which is a good thing because the hz are different here. The power tool is just like the car and knows what you're putting into it. You can put lower octane in the car it will retard timing. No harm, no foul. I bring my tool back to Home Depot and they inspect it, works fine. I'm on my way, just like that leased car. I'm sure nothings gonna go wrong with it
My example had nothing to do with any harm being done to the machine. putting 87 octane in your vehicle will not harm it. Your example isnt in the same category as mine because your example says that the manufacturer says you can use 120/240V. Your car does it say you can or should put lower octane in it. My example was to say that you can and it would be fine but its not recommended to get the best performance

I can use other examples if you like as to performance. Watching movies on equipment as the director designed the movie to be watched on. Sure you can watch a movie on any TV/audio system but maybe the director wanted you to use 9.1 surround sound to get all the feeels that we was trying to portray.

once again, no where do I say anything about it hurting the product/breaking it.

I will not put anything but high test in my car but for those who do, make sure that the gas is "top tier" and that it is so for all grades, not just premium.

How can you tell if gas it top tier? I get my gas at BP and mostly only BP but in NY all the pumps say up to 10% ethanol. Does this make it not top Tier?

General comment to all not to SteveinAZ:

On using cheap gas its usually about saving money so if you want to give up some performance & maybe some mileage for less than a $1.00 a day in most cases; might be a good plan to get your head examined with those big league saved bucks

Who knows, hey might be saving up for that big ticket Ferrari in the future. It will only take a couple decades or more of driving.
