Advice needed please, Oyster Leather Damage?
I've had the car 4 months. It's about to have its 1st birthday in June and has done 15,000 miles, 8,000 of those with me.
I love the Oyster leather and about a month ago, cleaned and treated it with this... It did a great job and I've just applied it again today. It removes any ink transfer perfectly and leaves the leather with a superb, matt finish [like new] and smells great too. here's the overall result... Closer inspection shows how well it has cleaned and removed any ink transfer... BUT, at the base of the seat back, this mark will not move. I cleaned it well using a generous amount of the Dr. Leather product [gently]. Does it look like leather damage? What do you guys think? Anyone else had this issue? There is some of this marking on the side bolster too (not photographed). Any insight, comments or advice would be most welcome..final pic of problem: Last edited by MickyD'bo; 06-04-2017 at 12:02 PM.. |

No peeling or flaking that I can see, no. Just this black mark that WILL NOT move. All the other ink transfer came off no bother at all. You could see the cleaner wiping it away.

Deffo this... can't help with removal though! I have a black mark (makeup I think) on my back seat that I can't shift with Dr Leather... it bothers me but I keep telling myself it will happen with a daily driver and that I should spend more time enjoying it than worrying about little details!
Let us know if you manage to shift it!

I had the same issue on my e92 oyster leather - driver side on the back where the heating pad is for the heated seat. Nothing worked so I bought Oyster leather dye from ebay, touched it with the dye carefully - make sure you clean the leather before that....worked OK. however, I noted that dye also came off after couple of months so reapplied it...

I have exactly the same mark on my red leather seats on my 335d. Leather cleaning products removed the dye transfer elsewhere but as said above, I think this is from a black belt. The leather seam is in a really bad place and is quite hard being hippo hide. If you find something that cleans it, do let me know.

Pure liquid soap flakes might be worth a try. Gentle on leather and possibly a different detergent/cleaner to that present in Dr Leather.
£2.50 from Wilkinsons or £3 from Tesco. Both made by Dri-Pak and rebranded.

Looking at that photo it appears to be far more like a black mark on the white leather than abrasion through to black leather beneath.
On that basis, I'd be trying a very gentle pass of some wet 1200+ grade wet and dry on the periphery of the mark and working into it if it showed improvement. If no improvement on the edges, back the f**k up and talk to the dealer. |

No, not sandpaper MD_D_D'BO, that would be foolish- 1200 grade wet & dry, moist 1200 grade wet & dry, damp even, applied gently.
What exactly do you have to loose, other than a massive black skid mark? Last edited by 6times7; 06-05-2017 at 03:38 PM.. |

I use products from "Furniture Clinic", I'll try to find a link to their website, they've got some videos on there which are worth watching as to how they do leather repairs.......your eyes will really be wide open believe me!
