I just bought a 2017 3-series GT
I shattered my knee; so no more 6 speed. I am selling my 2011 1M. I am very pleased with my GT. It has the Msport package and I plan to keep it in sport all the time except when I am on the highway. I'm glad it has what I call the happy button ( no nanny button) I plan to explore this when I autocross. I plan to get proper snows/wheels and ditch the runflats next year. I thought it would be a compromise after 3 M cars; but I love it. Despite the lean it does handle well. I supect when I get summer tires it will do fine. I can carry 4 of my five grandchildren plus stuff! I looked at the SUVs and I am just not a SUV type. I still require some decent handling. Life changes. I am looking forward to learning more about my new car. This is my 6th BMW since 1994. (1994 325is; 1997 M3; 2001 Z3; 2003 M3; 2011 1M Coupe).
BTW I love the trunk size. No more tire trailer when I want to carry large objects. I recently bought a new laser printer and could barely drive home with it in my front seat because it would not fit in the trunk. |

Sorry about the knee and congrats on the car. I'm almost 100% recovered from a herniated disc and my God I could not imagine trying to drive a stick while recovering.
Our needs change as we get older and it looks like you found a solution for yours. Good luck with it.

Thanks
This has not been a fun year. At least it led me to a wonderful new car. I've always liked hatch backs and was glad to find one that is not GTI size. The problem with my little orange monster was that my left knee has several screws holding it together and when I drive to Vermont to see my daughter I have trouble walking when I reach a rest stop. Also sometimes my knee locks. Not good when you have a 6 speed and a very fast car. I love my 1m but it is time to sell. Mine was the first US car and I can get what I paid for it. I got a good six years out of that car and now it is time.

Really sorry to hear about the knee. I cringed at just the thought.
Best of luck with your GT. Congrats on the car! Charles
