I recently ordered one of the stepped style (looks just like the VRSF 7" FMIC) G-Plus FMICs off of Amazon for $216.

It just showed up today.....and as far as the fit and finish goes, it looks great! The welds are all perfect, no burrs or any defects down in the inlet or outlets, and overall....it looks fantastic!!

It's probably going to be a few weeks before I have a chance to install it....but I will log a run with my OEM FMIC and then log a run with this G-Plus unit to see how the inlet temp rise is effected.

If it performs well, this might be one of the best "price to performance" FMICs out there.

What CP/TIC are you pairing it with? I would check the fitment at the CP and TIC connections carefully for boost leaks.

GPlus fits perfectly with Treadstone charge and boost pipes. No leaks.

At this point, I'm just planning on using the stock charge and boost pipes.....might upgrade them later if I start to have leaks, but right now they seal up fine on the stock FMIC. I'm running around 17psi boost with the MHD stage 2 flash tune.

you definitley want to upgrade your charge pipe pushing 17 psi. alot of CP's have failed on stock boost levels. if you were just going to wait until failure to change, I would kinda get it.. except you cannot predict how it will break, may cause damage to your throttle body or worse if a piece breaks off instead of just a crack.

The hotside pipe isnt the charge pipe, thats where we got confused. I was gonna say, there is no way youre running the stock charge pipe with any flash or tune.

Most people dont change the pipe from the turbo to IC, that ones not an issue.

Fyi..

This is barely adequate for a stage 2 tune fyi. And not if you are in a hot climate. Do not get this if you plan on going fbo or adding a turbo or anything like that.

If you want to go fast this is not the IC you want.

Please don't make a mistake because it's slightly less expensive than the vrsf race or mad race etc..

This intercooler works but only if you stay "stage 1" tunes for n55 or "stage 2" tunes on n20. It's better than stock. Spend the couple bucks and grab a 6" or 6.5" intercooler. After 3-4 back to back pulls the Amazon Gplus intercooler heat soaks.

Fun for a pull or 2, after that it's done for. Oem would heat soak driving around town. Grab a 6 or 6.5" or better. Do it once and forget it

I've been running my G-Plus FMIC for a long time now....it works great. I'm running a custom E40 tune that's making around 25psi with a pair of RB Two turbos. The car runs 10's at the dragstrip on street tires......hard to say it's a crappy intercooler with results like that.

Dude. GTFO with your n54 and discontinued RB turbos. RB turbos went out of business for a reason. This is a F30 chassis discussion.

For 1–2-3 pulls a G-Plus intercooler works. Anything after that and the intercooler becomes heat soaked and is no longer efficient. For a handful of passes down the 1/4 mile they will work fine. Stating a 10 second pass bro and it works fine applies to the 1-2-3 passes without heat-soak.

Did i not not say that above ? Did I not say that above ? Did I not state that above ?

I think mine has been installed for four years or so now. I decided pushing N20 beyond stage 1 was not in my best interest with all the HPDE I do. This fits that bill. Stage 2? Get a bigger one.

Correct.. this ic isn't suitable for the n20 tbh and even at stage 1 the n20 will still heat soak after a few runs. It's even worse with the n55.

OTS maps and driving around town it wasn't too bad while on OTS 91 maps.

But for the price + hassle to install might as well grab a used 6-6.5" intercooler and call it a day.

There are many more affordable and larger options elsewhere now. This was a deal when most were $600~. I'm moving on from F30 so I won't be replacing. Navardi Tuned recommended I get a larger one for better performance. The timing chain repair ate into that budget.
