Cheers, this is very useful to know. Mine was built on Dec 4th but the PDI wasn't until Dec 23rd so they should definitely have been able to see the new version of maps then. I have sent my dealer a screenshot of the parts system showing the 2014-1 maps and they have gone quiet. Apparantly the 'product team' are looking in to it... not holding my breath!

Mine was built on Friday 13/12/2013. I should have the latest maps but knowing those crazy Germans and their wacky sense of humour, my maps probably look like this:

Good luck guys, hopefully you can get recent maps. I can live without it bt knowing i bought new and there was a new update its reasonable to expect it. I suspect if we all make our cases to the dealers it maynwork.
One more thing before you collect your car, chek out whether the part numb exists for your car and take it with you. Dont accept car until update and see dealer reaction. |

A free map update is probably unlikely for me too.
I look online and apparently you need to order both the maps and code if you want to buy them. I was hoping to get genuine maps and then get a code from elsewhere. I would then save money by installing everything myself. We'll see... |

I hear Rybrook are good for service. Unfortunately they wouldn't even give me a quote for a 335d.

As I said earlier my car was delivered on 24.12.13 with 2013 maps. I downloaded the update and applied it myself. It didn't ask for a code and 1.5 weeks later it still isn't asking. If you have a Dec build you should be able to do this - don't know how long the 'grace' period is though.

When I asked for a quote I told them the price I was currently at (broker price). The guy (forgot his name) said he would call me back. He didn't. After a day I rang and asked for the same guy; he was busy so they took a message for him to call me. He didn't. Eventually I got hold of him and he told me he couldn't quote me near broker prices. I wish he'd have told me that first instead of messing me around. Two days later, I paid my deposit to a tame dealer (at less than the lowest broker price).

I don't know if you read TRL's comments about the two types of dealers? I think Rybrook Worcester are a dealer 1 type - great service, loyal customers but not necessarily the keenest new car prices - certainly not me me anyway.

Ok - finally had a response from my dealer...
They want £241.67 for the 2014-1 update code, £38.09 for the usb stick and £45.83 for labour, excluding VAT, so that's a total of £390.71 in all. My car was built on 04/12/2013 and delivered with 2013-2 maps. Last week I sent the dealer a screenshot of the 2014-1 part numbers after they claimed the update wouldn't be available until May/June. I am arguing that since the 2014-1 update was released before my car was delivered I expect it to be included, especially considering how much I have paid to have Pro Nav. Can anyone see when the 2014-1 part number first appeared in the parts system? My dealer is claiming it only appeared on their "internal system" overnight which is presumably b*****ks. |

Just buy the USB stick from them and get a code from the net, simpler solution IMO. Than spending hours on the phone with the dealer, plus arranging for the car to go in for a day.

You need to raise it with BMW UK Customer Services. Is poor service from the dealer - all they have to do is go to BWM and explain the situation. Or you could start saying there is a fault with the maps on the car and get them to upgrade it under the warranty. |

1. Escalate to manager then BMW UK to get it sorted 2. Pay BMW 3. Do what I did and get the maps free, install yourself and get the code from the net, £40ish |

My F34 (320i GT) was built in Oct 2013, I signed the contract early in Dec 2013 and took delivery of the car on 28 Dec 2013. I have Business Navi (606), the maps are 2013. Not 2013-2.
I told my dealer that I would expect the latest maps of the day when I actually got the car (or the day I signed on the dotted line) and told him that there were apparently two updates since the car was built (2013-1 and 2014) So far he has gone quiet and was very surprised about the level of detail I knew. The whole matter would normally not be a big concern, but the map updates are so outrageously expensive that I really want the latest. And I understand from previous comments in this thread the 2014 version came out well before I signed. Thing is, made in is the date when the chassis is matched with the body. The software or maps in the CIC could well have been programmed much earlier. |
