BMW Head Up-Screen

Just noticed Elebest started stocking the new BMW Head Up-Screen system. Kind of tempted to get it Great solutions for those without HUD.

Looks like a permanent blind spot to me. The OEM version is see-through.
Having said that, it looks like it gives much more info on the screen than the BMW OEM.

It doesn't feel quite integrated with the dash like the built in HUD. Both are OEM, one's an afterthought and the other was designed to be part of the car. I think it pulls the info from either the ODBII or CANBUS port.

Some info on the read out.

Can the transparency of the screen be adjusted? That screen seems way too dark.

I don't think it can be adjusted. I guess it's to combat glare and sunlight washing out the text.

It reminds me of the new Mazda HUD's in the Mazda 3

I've got one of these coming in for an X3 F25 customer. Should be installing late next week. Will let you know how it goes.

I use the Torque app for this sort of thing if I need it. Less intrusive and I have anything that blocks the screen like that - I've never ever used a Navman/Garmin that stuck to the screen, I'm not a fan.

Looking forward to it I wonder how it will turn out, will it stand out or will it look integrated.

I agree never really liked sticking something on the screen or adding something aftermarket on the dash. Maybe I might change my view when I see it in the flesh.

Any experience?

Have done a bit of research on the HUD retro-fit - I am very interested in any feed back or experiences with this particular 'add on' HUD. I've seen a few non OEM types (Garnin, Navdy etc) that appear a bit 'novel' - I'd much rather an OEM, albeit a retrofit. If anybody has any further info or has actually seen this unit can you let me know so I can decide. I can import for approx $1400 AUD from USA so I expect my local Sydney dealer will be a 'little' more exxy.

further to the above

Spoke with BMW parts guy in Parramatta (Sydney) - a check of the part number 62302361627 revealed a listed price of $1257 with an approx fitting time of 2 hours - but when he checked into it further he was 'sale blocked". His interpretation of this was that BMW Australia hadn't approved of the accessory. Checked with BMW parts at Rushcutters Bay (also Sydney) - same price but available out of Germany with an expected 3 week delivery and should be no problem - no mention of any 'sale block'. I guess speaking to anybody in Australia who has seen one let alone used one will by almost impossible at this stage. Will try the USA and Europe forums.

Would be nice if the screen was more see through. Like that now, it just seems another screen in front of you and not a real HUD.
I feel for those that want it though. I love mine!

I like it

Yep that's the very thing for me. I bit on the exxy side but it ticks all the boxes for me. I agree it looks a bit "added on" but I can live with that. Making the call next week. I'll can put up some pics if you guys are interested - albeit in about a month as it has to be shipped from Germany and then installed.
