Bodyshop advice please!

Looking for some advice folks.

I bought my car in August from a used approved garage in Dumfries and they agreed to fix a small blemish on the rear bumper. All seemed well until this week I noticed the lacquer beginning to peel and upon further inspection the bumper hasn't been refitted particularly well. See pics

It turns out they used a 3rd party bodyshop to carry out the repair. According to them it was an insurance approved bodyshop but nevertheless I'm not very happy!

The service manager has agreed to have it repaired but I'm not keen on it going back to them. Am I within my rights to get it repaired at a BMW bodyshop?

If it was an insurance approved bodyshop then the repair will be guaranteed, so you should give them at least one chance to put it right.

I don't think you've got any legal right to specify how/where it's repaired. Strictly speaking if it's still not right after their first attempt you could reject the car and ask for a refund, but it looks like a relatively minor issue and they could argue it's in keeping with the overall age and condition of the car.

I'd give them a chance to fix it and then see where you want to go next.

BMW bodyshop repairs offer a 3 year guarantee on all their work, the fact that they outsourced it is their problem. Have you spoken to them yet? I've never had issues raising things like this. I'm sure they'll just get it redone.
