Build your own question

Hey everyone,

I know dealers tend to work with you more with their own inventory but will they negotiate well if you build your own? I want to have a 320 with the sport package and nav which I'm told I wouldn't be able to find one in any lot.

Shop around. Someone will offer a deal. Negotiate % off MSRP up front. Deal with fees, etc. up front and get it all in writing, so only last minute factors are incentives (if there are any) and financing factors.

If you want to order what they consider an oddball, Dealer may ask for a deposit.

Would anyone when the new models get announced (ie 2015's), how long are you still able to order a build your own for the 2014's?

They would rather sell you inventory or inventory available from another dealer, but no dealer is going to beg off a custom order. They will still give you a good price, use Truecar and make them beat it or at least match it.

Thanks, do you know when BMW will still accept a build your own until they shut them down to make way for the new models?

I ordered a custom build 335 last month - there were multiple cars either on the lot or within the region that were missing DHP and one option or another. My local dealer did not charge extra for the custom order. In fact, as we were looking at various regional inventory my CA would say, "no, just get it exactly how you want it."

Go for it!
