Just got some new goodies.
- Wagner catless down pipe - Bms JB4 stage 2 tune - JB4 blue tooth kit and app I had Bms stage 1 for nearly a year and sold that. Been without a tune for about 3 months. I will be installing the jb4 first. I am curious to know how jb4 map 1 goes against bms stage 1. Then i will throw on the cat and run with map 2. |

Installed the jb4. Only hickup was the obd2 cable was too short. This was due to our cars being rhd. Appearently there is a longer version but u have to ask. I didnt know but BMS said just extend the wires on the cable. It was pretty easy. Anyway just be aware of this if you are buying the unit. Apart from this the install was pretty easy. It would take less than ten minutes next time and complete plug and play.
Took it for a nice run on the country back roads. So ran it on map 1, like the bms stage 1 the power increase is significant and the difference is night and day. The difference between bms stage 1 and the jb4 map 1...well i found no real difference in power. But what i found was the way the JB4 deliveres the power was different. I found bms stage 1 to lack in power from 0- 60km (between 1st to 3rd gear), felt stock, then all of a sudden the power would just kick in and top end the power was always there.also at times i found the bms stage 1 to be jerky at times ( depending on how hard i am pressing the throttle and what gear i am in). The JB4 had power right from the get go and i didnt notice any jerkyness, not yet anyway. But either way still better than the BMS stage 1. In conclusion JB4 map 1 power delivery is smoother and seems to be there from the get go, but overall i didnt feel there was more power than the bms stage 1. If there was my butt dyno couldnt tell The JB4 app and bluetooth kit. Well i bought a dedicated tablet so it could be connected at all times rather than using my mobile and switching between the car ( for telephone functions) and the jb4. Plus the 7 inch screen was better with the gauges. Overall i think the app is fantastic. User interface is very user friendly and the layout and graphics is top notch. With the app you got all the cars info real time ( boost, IAT, revs, gear, oil temp and many more). You can check error codes, read and clear. You can data log and export to a csv file. You can chage the gauge colours. Most importantly, i think anyway, you can change maps anytime. In my case go back to stock (map 0) for my wife and i can switch it back to map 1 when i get in those spirited drive moods. Also the gauges look cool. If you dont have the app the only way to change maps and settings is through your rev gauges and signal stalks. I found this to be a bit primitive but each to their own i guess Next install the dp and run map 2. |

good to know re JB4. I'd echo your thoughts re: BMS Stage 1 and the power delivery... do need to learn how to manage it . I'll use that until i fall out of manufacturers warranty and look at putting a JB4 in. Just easier to remove the Stage 1.

I've been running my 328i with catless dp, JB4 in Map 2 & JB4 Connect with app for almost 2 years. Ballistic performance in Sport mode and a little more when engaging DS mode on top of it, which holds the gears for longer.
I also ran the JB4 on Map 1 for a short time till I installed the catless DP. The difference between Stage 1 and JB4 Map 1 was a noticeable improvement, but once the dp is charged over and the JB4 is set to Map 2, your whole driving experience changes in that moment. Trouble is, not easy to use as often as I would like to in busy inner SE Melbourne suburbs. Too many other cars travelling far to slowly in front of me. Anyway, always nice to jump off the line at traffic lights when I'm first in line. Also great for country driving on those curvy roads between South Gippsland Hwy and Princess Hwy.

Anyway the power increase is amazing along with map 2 on the jb4. I feel there hasnt been any change in the bottom end but once the revs climb and that turbo spools man does the power just surge. Top end is amazing and it has soo much grunt after 60km. There is zero drone (ps i have a remus axle back) The exhaust note has changed. Under light to medium throttle the rumble from the exhaust is a little louder. Burbles and pops on downshift are louder and noticable with the windows down. Before you really had to concentrate and know what to look out for. Now the passenger can clearly hear it. Under heavy acceleration the dp takes over a bit and it is a little more raspier at the higher revs. You can hear the turbo spool up more. Very happy with it. Wife is not though because she feels everyone looks lol |

Rear side extensions
Just got my rear side extensions. I think these complete the full M performance kit now. I Always felt there need the rears to match the side skirt extensions
