2016 Build Your Own Payment Estimator Accuracy

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know how accurate the payment estimator is on BMWUSA.com?

I build a 2016 328i xDrive sedan with an MSRP of $53,470. The site is quoting me $701 per month for a 36 month, 10k miles lease with no down payment.

I tried back calculating with a 62% residual and determined a money factor of 0.00158.

(I got the 62% from some of the 340i numbers posed on here.)

Any thoughts?

The numbers aren't accurate. They assume you pay MSRP, no taxes, and usually $3k cap cost reduction. You should be able to get $1000 over invoice (93% of MSRP), MF is 130, and taxes will vary on your state. There will also likely be dealer processing fees that aren't included in that scenario. Use a lease calculator to plug it all in.

As a point of reference, my MSRP was around $58k, I put $2k down, and will have a $716/mo payment (340, 10k miles, 6% tax).

Thanks for the feedback. I entered $0 for the cap cost reduction. I know there are taxes and fees and such, I was planning on paying those upfront. I also understand the MSRP is negotiable.

So, my take would be, assuming I have the residual right, the online estimator is assuming a higher than expected money factor?

I guess so. If you have good credit, then you should be able to get the current rate (130). Of course, this is subject to change on a monthly basis based on BMWFS's promotions.

That is a great tool! There goes another evening...lol!

I have been using the leasematic iOS app but this should make things faster being able to work on the computer.

Noticed you are located in Maryland as well. Which dealer did you go to? I'm Located in Rockville area, in the market for a 340i and looking for a good dealership with no BS.

Back in March, I test-drove a 335i at BMW of Catonsville and asked about the 340i. The CA told me with some degree of confidence it wasn't coming stateside until Summer of 2016, which I knew was either a lie or shameful ignorance. He was also bad about returning my emails, so that soured my opinion of the dealership...which is unfortunate, since they're five minutes from my house.

I ended up dealing almost exclusively by email/phone with John Kim at Northwest BMW (Owings Mills). The whole process was transparent, easy, and straightforward. Since I took delivery at the Performance Center (SC), I only had to go to the dealership once, to sign paperwork. I'll probably end up taking it to Catonsville for service visits.

I used to live in Rockville (and then Gaithersburg). I know VOB does a lot of business, but I haven't dealt with them before. Do you have reason for concern there?

The calculators on BMW USA are more or less worst case. Current base MF is 0.00131, but dealers often mark that up). That MF is bound to increase with the recent fed ruling). It's also dependent on your credit score, but if you're at or above 675, you should qualify for the best rate. Their residuals are accurate though, and that's not negotiable. Obviously, in addition to a discount from MSRP, don't forget about other incentives. You should be able to get pretty close to invoice on pricing. Shop around.
