330d M sport, with variable suspension, to suit me as a daily drive to my other car... going for 19" wheels is hardly the wrong decision (for me)...

But buying a 330d M sport, opting for 18" wheels because it makes the ride better... perhaps the wrong decision... Honda, 330d luxury come to mind?

Each to their own... which I respect... I've been laughing not getting angry

I know what's right for me, and it's what I'd recommend to others if they wanted a more sporty looking car.

Yeah! The weather. It's crazy. The worst Spring ever and I've been on this planet for a long, long time.

Really love the car to bits. The engine, gearbox, ride, handling, roadholding, comfort, sound system, manic acceleration etc, etc, are the stuff of wet dreams! It's so very right. I'll can it tomorrow when the roads are empty.

I agree, the only annoyance I have so far, is it doesn't remember to be in Eco pro mode when setting off... when I have the 7 week old kids in I actually prefer the less harsh throttle response. Having this option is great though.

Coding would sort that though I'm sure.

Sunny here, good driving weather other than a bit cold... no more snow please.

You could always try and swap them with someone who has 19" wheels... they would probably be only too glad to given all the problems listed :-p.

Thanks for that I have asked about a trade and awaiting the cost???

Took my car into BMW MK last week with corrosion on 403's, and they have agreed to replace all 4 under warranty.

The corrosion is small but spreads out from the centre cap area.

Interestingly, if the cap is removed, very rusty inside and signs of trapped water.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread however I found this corrosion on front near side alloy wheel today. Should BMW replace it under warranty ? Car was new in March 13 and has only done 7k miles.

Oh dear. That's not good. It's part of the course with laser/machined cut wheels. Hope you get it sorted under warranty.

Both my front rims had the same issue and were replaced under warranty when the car was 10 months old.

Those wheels look stunning when new but its not good that somany are having to be replaced. I had same issue years ago with Ford alloys. They also corroded from centre caps. Ford replaced 3 but declined to replace number 4 as it showed no evidence. Of course it then went a couple of months later out of warranty. A painted wheel is much more resilient because it has coats of paint under the lacquer to protect it. I would prefer painted rims for that reason.

Out of interest are the centre hubs behind the wheels waxed or oiled to stop the rust ?

Indeed - does anyone know if you can do this? apply some sort of wax to keep water contact away?

thanks for the tip! I notice this rust on an ebay auction at the back of a 403... how did you apply yours? did you take off the wheels? I see they do a spray version so I could take off the BMW caps and just spray away perhaps

i noticed the hubs were corroding badly given their age, when i bought a set of 403M's for my 320i sport.
so cleaned treated them before fitting.

http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=842549

though when i put my 17" wheels back on for winter,
i noticed most of the copper grease had spun out of the hub.
i will look to use something a bit sticker like the wax oil next spring when the 403's go back on.

Sorry to resurrect this thread.

My 403M wheels have what appears to be corrosion on the center cap/hub where the BMW fits. I started a thread as well:
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...php?p=20340769

I was wondering if the corrosion issue re-appeared on your wheels? Also any idea if BMW fixed this issue on the new wheels?

Thanks!
