Door Lock Mechanism 'Freezing'
It was pretty cold on Thursday morning, got in the car as normal to start it and get the heaters/windscreen demister on, pulled the door shut and it just 'bounced' back open. Pulled on the door 4 to 5 times and the locking mechanism just wouldn't engage, the door just 'bounced' back open. Tried the central locking button a few times but it wouldn't work because the door was open. Ended up pulling on the manual door release handle a few times and the door lock eventually engaged. Anyone else experienced this?

A few times in cold weather. Some silicone spray is good for the locks once a year or before winter. Keep it off your paint as it can strip wax. Spray into and behind areas like the lock, lock catch and door handle. Wipe off if it drips on the door handle and wax. Check hinges too they may need a grease. Coupe? Use a decent seal feed around the window top area seal. I use Swiss Vax seal feed.

I had exactly this issue and found it was the window that was frozen and unable to drop when opening the door, this prevented the door from closing as the window was fouling against the opening at the top.
