The 6NR and Sat Radio ones are same, and if CIC VIN is written to NBT VIN, they could be used. All others for Navigation, Voice, etc. are different.

Ok. Thx.
Why I ask. Thinking of retrofit CIC on a F30 2013 with Business Navigation and Combox in the trunk. So it should be easier to retrofit CIC than NBT. |

To use old 6NR FSC Code, CIC would need same VIN as car, and then you would have to order from BMW AG the Nav and Voice FSC Codes for car VIN, and it would cost around $1300 USD.

Yes I know. If we retrofit the CIC, we will use Emulator.
But even with Emulator you need myabe a FSC Code Set to get 6NR or Voice or... working. So I can not use the Set for NBT Unit. And does anyone know if it is "plug and play" to retrofit CIC when car comes with Champ2 and Combox in the trunk? I think there should not be rewiring necessary right? |

Yes, correct. You will need FSC Code set from another CIC with Apps, Nav, and Voice Control, and this set must be from a newer VIN than CIC Donor VIN. Should not be hard to get.
No rewiring of Combox should be needed.

On my Nav, voice volume is adjusting. But Music must be louder than voice. Otherwise it won´t adjust. For Music Information try this BASIS_KOMBI_MMI_LIST -> aktiv KOMBI_CIC -> aktiv |

Hi, just bought an nbt system and want to make the retrofit. Now i have the standard radio professional without combox in the trunk (only standard bluetooth and usb in the armrest).
The first choice is to buy an emulator and then coding. I will go to a garage to do this for me because i don't know nothing about coding. In this case, the coding must be done before or after the emulator is fitted? The other choice is to get the nbt system original coded by the person who sell this retrofit. I will send my vin number and he will do original coding (like a bmw dealer). In this case, the system will be direct plug and play for my car. Just connect the wires and that's it. The question is if my bmw dealer do a software update in the future to my car, will i have problem with the original coded nbt system? Will in somehow the fsc codes deleted so the car must be coded again? If not, i will go for the second solution. Every advice/opinion is very important to me, thank's. |

In rgds to the coding and the emulator, you can install the emulator after coding. The emulator only bypasses the verification between the NBT and your car. In other words the NAV will not work without the emulator but everything else will. As for BMW dealer software updates (assuming your talking about system/firmware updates), very high chance it will fail because your car wasn't built with the NBT....think about it, they are not going to support self-installed hardware. Solution would be to backout the NBT to default spec during service updates....hence the reason to understand coding. Also your installation won't be 100% PnP as you will need to add the GPS module and prob turn the USB connector 180 degrees. |

Thank's for the info. I don't have so much time to spend reading the coding threads, lots of work, family, you know what i mean...
As for the updates, i am talking about software car updates, not updates of the nbt. If my car is original coded, that means that there is no emulator and is like the nbt is factory build for my car. It is not easy or convenient to backout the NBT. What is the GPS module? Do you mean gps antenna? Because this antenna is included in the kit. Also probably there is no need to turn the usb connector 180 degrees because i don't have a combox. |
