BMW Ball Watch, new model pre-order

what do you guys think? their designs with BMW have been hit and miss, I like the new one they just announced (which sounds like it will be the last one). prices are creeping up though (pre-orders used to be less on all previous ones).

thinking no BMW logo on the dial though (which is an option), its already on the back and crown.
I really like the all black, but the stainless steel is the same price (which is odd considering the cost of the bracelet vs a rubber strap).

$1799 pre-order, I think retail will be $3199 (so almost 44% off pre-order)

For $3k I wouldn't want to wear a product placement item. No BMW logos at all for me.

but you are okay paying $70K+ for driving a product placement item? your car is also a huge advertisement for BMW (unless you de-badged the whole thing).

like I said, personally I like it without the logo on the dial because no one will notice it on the crown and it will look like a normal watch. I just like the sports car dial look of it.

secondary market will be hit or miss on it, really only market will be BMW owners, not many will buy a BMW watch if they don't own one of their cars...

I'm paying for a car. BMW's M division put research, development, and years of experience into this machine for which they are experts at making.

For this watch, I'll be paying for a watch... with a car's logo on it. BMW isn't a watch maker and they don't specialize in watches. I'd rather invest in a IWC that won't be limited to BMW drivers.

fair enough, but to be clear Ball Watch makes this and they are a very reputable company and from the looks of it you aren't paying more than their non BMW branded items if you pre-order. Its more of the BMW/automobile themed design that makes it different...

I guess its similar to the Nike Apple Watch version, if you like the brand and design then you buy it, its something one company made with the other companies motto in mind.

Fair enough. It does look like an aesthetically nice watch. I guess I just have this aversion to branded items. I don't want to be a Joey after all

If you were to plot the distribution of all watch prices on earth I would suspect you'd find a heavily left skewed distribution with a peak somewhere between $10 and $500 (educated guess, but I'm open to any facts people might have on the issue). I tried googling "median watch price" to no avail.

I like it. Wish it was a chronograph and a tad bit bigger dial/bezel

Watches range from $1 to $1,000,000+ so yes $1,700 is on the low end. Idk why thats hard to understand.

I think it doesn't worth it, I mean, there are lot of brands which produce watches, BMW is not watch company, unless you a big fan of BMW)
