340xi msport, std brakes... squealing and pop/snap from all 4 corners
When I back up after the car has sat for 30+mins in 25-35f (maybe colder this just began) I have a snapping/popping from 1-4 corners immediately at the point the pads friction the rotors. Sometimes it's just one corner and one pop, other times the first 3-4 four brake applications say backing out of a driveway make different corners pop, if rear sounds like someone slapped a rear door etc
They also squeal unbelievably bad at low pedal pressure / low speed the first mile or so. I've seen people report similar behavior, what was the fix? Car has 3300mi

My 340 was brutal. I ended up just replacing the pads with EBC Red Stuff. Much better brake grab, and almost no dust.
When swapping the pads, EBC's directions said to ensure the pistons had a film of grease on them. On my 340, the fronts had grease on the pistons, the rears were 100% dry and loaded with brake dust. My guess is if BMW actually followed their recommended install procedure (grease the piston contact points as well as the ears for the pads), then there would be no issue. |

I'm just saying that the OEM ones on my car had little to no grease on contact points. I'm sure if I had just lubed them, it would have been fine (could have had the dealer do it since the car is new as well).
On my E90, I complained about nasty amounts of brake dust until the pads wore out at 100,000km. I put on Brembo's, got better braking, and almost no dust. This time I wasn't going to complain for another 7 years of driving about the dust, so I did EBC on the essentially a new car. |

I have the same issue. Usually sitting overnight in temps of ~25-45F . Reversing out of my long narrow driveway with my head out the window is a nightmare at 5AM. The squeal while braking is crazy loud. The squeal is worse when it rained.
The car is a blast to drive but I've noticed so many annoying things with this that I never had on my F10. |

Anyone aware of a tsb? I don't want some tech with his thumb up his ass throwing ideas at it while I'm driving some 320 shitbox around.

Not aware if there is one, but there sure as hell should be one. There are a lot of threads on this forum about the squeal. Sounded like I was skinning a cat alive every time I came to a stop light!
