LOL...out the tank and down the side of your car if you ignore the automatic shutoff in the handle (or it is not working on rare occasions) and you try to force more fuel in the car than it can hold as virtually everyone has found out at sometime in their life.
Ha ha! This. Exactly. Often, on my %!$&!!! shoe!

ahh.. looks like the pumps here in canada are different. it lets you continue to pump (back into the gas pump) and just keeps clicking over and over again because your tank is full.

FYI, you got 5L in the tank left once the thing says ___KM left.

Sometimes it go's into your EVAP system, the charcoal canister for B58's can run about $400 ... which is one of the reasons why the owners manual advises against doing this. Its on page 183:

Observe the following when
refueling
The fuel tank is full when the filler nozzle clicks
off the first time.
Do not overfill the fuel tank
Do not overfill the fuel tank; otherwise
fuel may eslide, causing harm to the environment
and damaging the vehicle.

edit: Page 241 list's fuel tank capacity at approx. 15.8 US gallons

Which is what I told you in post #20.

Pumps that form a Vapor Lock form that seal with a rubber enclosure that completes that seal with the side of a car, as shown below.

The hoses are also 2x the size (some use dual hoses) for the return.

Most Americans have never ever seen one of these.

our pumps look like this (doesnt seem to be a return, or larger diameter tube) yet you can keep pumping gas back into the station when your tank is full? im confused here.

The first picture has a flexible bellows that was used as the pressure turn off in older fuel pumps. Newer ones have it built into the handle and look like the second picture.

Just a tip though, running the fuel pump in a tank that has 1/8 tank or less of fuel is just candidate for burning them out. They are submersible pumps and require fuel to cool.....

No, the first one is a Vapor Return System on the gasoline dispenser at the Gas Station.

Has nothing to do with turning off the gasoline pump dispensing system flow into your car. Both types stop the gas flow automatically when they hit resistance (a full tank of gas in your car).

The Vapor system traps gas fumes from escaping into the atmosphere (smell your hand at a self serve station without the system). It also acts as a return for gas that would otherwise spill out on the side of the car (and ground) should on try to overfill their car's gas tank.

Google it.

I may be incorrect, but I believe he's talking about the fuel pump in the car, not the gas station pump.
