you don't have comprehensive insurance? its pretty cheap even with a $200 deductable and your insurance won't go up with claims (like it does with collisions or traffic tickets).

According to whom? C&D and several other sources have noted that they'd take the old E90 335i vs the new one. Also, very interesting that BMW is losing a significantly higher proportion of other comparos (5, M5, 6, M6, X6) vis a vis the competition. FI, lack of steering feel, communication with road, and size are being cited as the key issues w/ all the new models (w/ exception of 328i). Also, the investment community (as seen in a recent WSJ article) has honed in on BMW "stuffing the channel" by labeling sale of demonstration vehicles as "new car" sales. Peel away these demos and BMW's sales numbers of new models are actually suprisingly low.
Having said that, in the looks dept, the F30 is a handsome looking car (as is the new 5), and maybe looks is what drives a "halo effect" that ultimately sells the most vehicles over time. |

F30 vs E90 comparo wasn't that hard to win for F30 I always felt that E90 design was too bland (especially pre-LCI one), but there was E92 to save the day

love the overall design of the F30. but i do agree that from straight front it looks real flat and wide on the nose, but in person it looks better. My only 3 complaints are the 1. size of the f30 (which we can't really do anything about b/c everybody keeps making cars bigger) and 2. The interior switch gear looks like it might of stayed the same or gone down in quality slightly and 3. After test driving an F30 335i I wasn't as blown away driving it when compared to driving a B8 A4 and is350 F-sport, where as when I bought my e90 330 6 years ago the gap between audi, lexus, infiniti, merc vs bmw was so huge.
Definitely has a better ride than my car, the design is clean cut, wish the nose wasn't as wide but the flared fenders were slightly more pronounced, and wish it didn't sit so high up stock. but with all that being said, pure looks wise F30 M-sport > any E90 (maybe tied with e90 m3)

The gap you speak off has more to do with how the competition has caught up with the BMW. It has been the yard stick for so long that everyone finally has caught up in this lucrative market (entry luxury). However, with what the F30 brings to the table (ASS, HUD, Adaptive Cruise control, just to name a few) the competition still has more work to do. |

Last week I purchased a 335is. Before I made this decision, I was also considering the F30 Sedan Msport. The day before I completed the purchase I was given an invitation to test drive the F30 335i for that $1000 rebate olympic event. They allowed me to operate the car alone and just gave me a sheet for directions. Being alone, I pushed this car VERY hard. Ultimately I was NOT impressed with the handling and feel like it was a downgrade from the E90 Msport I had before the 335is. My review is not baised based on the fact that I had the opportunity to select either F30 or E92, and went with the latter. Ultimately, the N54 is an animal. Who knows? Maybe an LCI of the F30 will be better in looks and performance than the current F30. I have always purchased the facelift versions of the 3 series, from a E46 facelift sedan, to an E90 LCI msport, to now, an E92 LCI 335is.

Thanks for the comparison photos. It's nice seeing the two vehicles side-to-side.
I think both cars look good in their own right. I've never been much of a fan of the E90 (like the E92 much better); my personal opinion is that the F30 looks much better than the E90 in the sedan form. I guess we'll have to wait and see on the F32. The interior of the F30 is a huge improvement over the E9x interior IMO....definitely makes the car look less spartan and more thoughtfully designed/appointed. And to all of the F30 haters out there....I wonder how many will change their minds when the price on used F30 models falls enough to afford to buy one and drop to 1" off the ground and put neon lights underneath it?

Putting performance and exteior aside, let's talk interior. The interior has CHANGED, never really IMPROVED. Disliked the hedious "leatherette" plastic steering wheel, gotta get M sport steering wheel for that, but again, the new M steering wheel looks so cheap. I really don't understand people calling this new interior "BETTER". HOW? Compard to the functional cup holders of E90, you can just see the lack of effort in F30. a cup holder cover? It's a shame when compared to the direct competitors, A4s and C class. My acura didn't even have that, and it was more luxurious than this F30. The button layout is virtually the same design, it just became more plasticky and more like moden style, which would look cool on Civic, not on a 40K+dollar LUXURY vehicle. Rear interior is virtually the same as well In years to come the dash stuck nav screen will look so much cheaper than E90's nav screen. It's just new design, it's never better. Calling Lane departure, Parking cam, and even rear heated seats new? I don't think so, the 6 yr old Audis A4/A5 have that. Again, the interior has changed, definitely doesn't look to be "improved". Funny, I have an F10 and would much rather have the "pop out" screen like in the F30. Much more stylish and modern. The F10 looks bland in comparison. |

Nice, seems to me the F30 is a future classic design, just like the e46.

I had and adored my e90 for 5.5 years. Incredible car. After spending a month in the f30 it really is better in every way. Everyone will love it soon enough. you'll see. I bought one right after test driving an s4 too. felt quicker and more agile right away. I actually wanted to like the s4 more but didnt. F30 is amazing properly optioned.
