I bought a f30 2012 with business nav and bt, without combox. and i want to upgrade to nbt2 evo. i had carplay in my previous car and i really really mis it. i dont want to buy the bimmertech mmi because i can get the hu really really cheap. cheaper than the mmi bimmertech sells.

i can get my hands on a nbt id5 unit but is says china hw4.1 b216, can i use that unit?

also there is no gps port on the back so i will need a emulator. someone know a good gps receiver so i can use my original gps?

also i can scroll my music in my instrument cluster. will that still be possible? it has a apix2-2 connection and from what i understand is that it is used for the kombi. will it be the same for me?

I would try sticking to a European or US unit if possible as a Chinese one would be Alpine manufactured and not Harman.

These units also come region locked as well so if you attempt to have someone code it to European spec, the unit may end up being bricked as well.

Do you know anything about the track scrolling funtion on my instrument cluster? i cant seem to find a lot of info about the connection between cluster and HU.

Pretty sure that's done thru most connection. It is on nbt, assume nbt evo is the same way.
