Opti-Coat AND Xpel - Too much protection?

Quick question guys, i've had my 435 for about a week and looking to get some paint protection soon and I've decided on opti-coat for the paint and wheels. But my question is "is getting opti-coat and a clear bra too much?" I figured opti-coat keeps the paint looking good and protects against the elements, but is it good enough to stop gravel and other things that would normally chip your paint? To get both it is about $1700 from a local shop here in Richmond VA, its a lot of money but I'm wondering if it is overkill?

Thanks

Opticoat gives zero protection from rock chips, etc. Opticoat is like an extremely durable coat of wax or like a second clear coat. It helps with the sheen of the car as well. I have both a PPF (XPel) and Opticoat on mine. The Opticoat goes on top of the PPF. If I was to pick only one to do it would be the XPel to protect against paint chipping, and I would just make sure the car is regularly washed and waxed.

Didn't know the opti-coat went on top of the clear bra. I agree with you that going with the film is the best option and seems i could go back and get the opti-coat later *read: after ordering spoiler, diffuser, and painted reflectors!

Thanks for the info

When I had my Xpel installed I was discussing bang for the buck options. To offset some of the costs I did the Xpel - including a full hood wrap. Next spring he will do a full detail including a paint correction if needed then opti-coat it.

Going a similar route. Getting the Xpel and tint done first. Opti-coat the wheels to help w the dust. Anyone have any experience w opti-coat for the interior?

Wow, never heard of such a thing. Are you sure it's using OptiCoat? That would be a waste of bucks IMO.

Opti Coat is great for easing up the maintenance of your new car.

Clear Film will protect the areas covered from rock chips and extremely impacts.

There is coating for the interiors, I have installed coatings/sealants for the interior but have not seen long term results, that being said customers that had it installed have not complained.

I opti coated mine and after two weeks wait for it to cure, used permanon on it. Looks great and washing the car has become a breeze.

Took the car in for tint, PPF (Xpel), and opti-coat exterior and wheels. Will pick it up tomorrow so hoping it looks amazing and is now ready to put some miles on it!

Man I recommend anybody with a new car go get it polished and if not opticoat, get some type of sealant. The car has this amazing gloss now! After a couple of washes I realize that this is the best product I've ever used for paint protection, dirt just glides off and almost don't need to hand wash, just foam up and rinse with the pressure washer. So far as the Xpel time will tell, the half hood was in the budget but the line is a little distracting. All in all it was well worth it.

It's great because it holds up against "love marks" or swirls and small holograms you get from washing incorrectly or touching your car or someone laying against it etc.
