Extensive body damage plus a new engine sounds like a total to me.

agree, but xenons have no affect on how the car drives, plus i barley drive at night so im not to concerned about them...but if i can get that dealer to send them to me for a few hundred bucks that would be cool

No one at the dealer is going to care about parting out a totaled car. The insurance company is going to cut them a check and be done with it.

Does anyone know if I coudl purchase a totaled car from an insurance company or teh dealer? If they are indeed sold, how? I would not mind the body damamge, as my intent is to turn it into a track car. But the new engine, would help with reliability.

(WAHHHH sorry to hear that man!! Insurance usually classifies a car "TOTALLED" if it Cost more than Half he price of the Car Value to fix. And also would take a significant amount of time to repair. So yes i think they will give you a new one. Wish you the best of luck

McALLEN — The storm that ripped through the city Thursday night caused a large amount of property damage that is still being assessed.

The hail that caused damage to many homes had the potential to greatly affect automobile dealerships, where vehicles sit outdoors, vulnerable to hail.

But the majority of the dealerships in the McAllen area went unscathed, with only one reporting a large amount of damage.

The Bert Ogden BMW dealership on 10th Street was the most severely affected by the storm, with 77 vehicles taking damage from the hail, said Robert Vackar, Bert Ogden CEO.

The building also suffered approximately $200,000 of damage, which is in the process of being repaired, Vackar said.

The damaged vehicles will be shipped back to BMW of North America and Bert Ogden should be getting its lot replaced in the next few days.

On Thursday “we were expecting six cars that had already been sold, but we were lucky that the shipment was delayed; if not they would have probably been damaged, too,” Vackar said. “This is by far the worst storm I’ve seen. I had three feet of ice in my backyard.”

As bad as the storm was, there was a positive note for Vackar and the employees at Bert Ogden.

“We were there this morning and saw a little puppy that was disoriented … a little tan Chihuahua mix,” he said. “We picked him up got him some food and took him to the vet. We called him ‘Beamer.’”

The severity of the storm damaged a large number of personal vehicles whose owners rushed to several auto body shops.

“At one of our body shops, we had 64 cars lined up waiting to be fixed,” Vackar said. “Some of them are not fixable, so we will be working with the insurance companies to get the vehicles totaled.”

The other car dealerships owned by the Bert Ogden group — including the other ones in McAllen, Mission and Edinburg — were not damaged by the storm and continue to operate as usual.

Hacienda Ford, on West University Drive in Edinburg, was spared from the storm, said sales manager Al Phillips.

“We got quite a bit of rain but no hail,” Phillips said. “You could say we got a free car wash. We are open for business just like any other day.”

At Charles Clark Chevrolet, on Business 83 in McAllen, it was business as usual Friday after the dealership took no damage in the storm, said sales manager Carlos Sada.

He was thankful for their luck.

“You can say that it was by the grace of God that we were spared,” Sada said.

Holy Crap Bro

Damn something similar happened to my Dad's car up here in New York City last Summer. He has a 2010 Cadillac SRX which I happened to be driving lol on the highway. All of a sudden it started hailing like a mofo (literally sizes ranging from golf balls to baseballs). Thank god no window got shattered but there were major cracks and dents pretty much every single place imaginable on the car.

Long story short Geico cut a check for about 10,000 dollars to fix the problem. Hopefully Geico is able to help you out as well. I contacted Geico immediately, and met them early next morning before all the other victims reported in. Good luck man

So bad to look at those pics. Sorry OP; but it is def 100% total loss. Even without the engine damage. That red car needs every body panel replaced! Be patient w/ insurance as due to the storms they are swamped w/ claims. I do auto appraisal work and can say pretty comfortably it is a loss.
