LCI Lines

Hey guys,

Was building the new LCI 340i online, and noticed that they aren't anymore "lines"...sport, M-sport, lux etc., but rather packages. Is BMW getting rid of the separate lines and going back to just packages like it was before?

If this was posted before, I'm sorry, I haven't been on the site for a while. And can I just say...holy crap...Thank God we finally get saddle leather on the M-Sport.

Thanks!

So how does it work now? Before, Sports line had many small improvements, such as better brakes and I forget the rest. Are all those standard now?

I realized that if you go the base "sport" you can get black leather without the red stitching and instead get the oyster highlight however the steering wheel still has red stitching...which seems odd to me

It looks like red stitching on the wheel for:

black w/red
black w/oyster
oyster w/black
coral w/black

Black stitching on the wheel for:

saddle
beige

I think the black w/oyster and oyster w/black should have the wheel without red stitching.

I can never figure out where they come up with some of these combinations.

I have the black w/red now and like it but don't want it next time around. I'll probably go M-Sport this time but nice to know if I don't I can get black seats without the red stitching.

really only a wording change the effect is the same except Im not seeing an individual option for M-sport brakes. it appears to only be in the track handling package

It's a little different. Now you can double up on packages like having the msport package with the luxury package instead of having to pick just 1 line.

Not according to the configurator. Try having Msport and Luxury. Wont let you.

Not true. Sport line comes standard now. You can still get the luxury line and the M Sport line. It is just an error.

You can get Luxury or M Sport "Packages". Use of "Lines" is gone.

I would disagree. I ordered my 340 without the track package because the variable steering is too artificial for my tastes and has been the only criticism in all first drive reviews.

The shame is you can't get normal, control all the ratios yourself, steering with the m-brakes...the brakes could have at least been a stand alone option imo.

Wait... so you think that standard electric steering is less artificial?

I think VSS feels great compared to the standard electric system..

Yup, that's my preference. Not saying my opinion is the end all be all. But after test driving them both on a 335 I decided against VSS. The EPS is different than the hydraulic in my family's e92.

I mean artificial in a sense where I don't want computer software changing steering ratios for me. That's all. It's an option for us to decide where our personal value falls. I'm not saying you're wrong/dumb for ordering it

So now without lines, what suspension does the "base" get? Does it get the 704 sport suspension now?

Used to be sportline and msport (non-dhp) have the same suspension. Hierarchy was (worst to best):

Xdrive
RWD Base / Luxuryline
RWD Sportline / Msport
DHP

Now whats the hierarchy in terms of LCI packages?

Also, is the base thin steering wheel gone now?

The style 398s that come with the track package are one of my least favorite BMW wheels ever, and I'm indifferent about VSS. So I would be paying $1700 for only the Msport brakes, which is absurd.
